Great article. There are a lot of very ignorant people commenting on it like they know something. That said, there are a few very intelligent comments down there as well.

basically take out the back seats and put some type of platform in where the seats used to cover the trunk, then cover that platform with the same fabric as the floor to use as sound dampening, so it can still be used as a DD. i dont plan on putting in a roll cage.

You know the back seats are simply foam right...and they do not contribute much of any weight at all...

But you knew that right...

Yeah, by the time you do that, you'll be well over your starting weight with none of the functionality.

What is this about? Only a 20% increase. I expected a little more, but then again it is only ^.3 http://news.windingroad.com/car-buyi...s-16x-renesis/

Prediction : Mazda will bring this motor to the rx8 in 2008 with a claim of 300hp . A year or two later the RX8club.com will be alive with talk of why they can only get 240hp at the wheels and "lets take a class action suit against Mazda" for misrepresenting the power output .

I think 300 hp is actually the magic # that will work for marketing purposes and hope they are trying to achieve that figure.

And it's a 4 port as I noted in my other thread.

How can you be so sure its a 4port? You are seeing the intermediate plate, not the side plates, there are 2 holes there on the side plates per rotor, making it a 6 port.

The exhaust ports have an interesting shape, its almost looks like a ported port.

edit: Sorry Paul, you are right. It is a 4 port.

Does anyone know if the bellhousing of the 16X is similar in dimensions to the bellhousing on the current Renesis?

From all the information we have so far, the exterior dimensions is the same as the 13B-MSP, except it is shorter (front to back, longitudinal)

Sounds like it's "production ready". Mazda could be out doing endurance testing with this engine under our noses as I type this - especially if it can drop right into a RX-8.
