Great news!

the future will hold some interesting concepts..

Knowing that there'll be a 16 X Rotary makes me feel outdated :)
|
very interesting :)
|
Good news!

Would the larger "16X Tub" fit into an RX-8?
|
Sweet news! 16X FTW! f/i next

It always astounds me that people ask that, as if buying a new crate engine and installing in into your car would be somehow cheaper and/or easier than just buying the new model.

The 16X is Wider in Diameter, so to answer my own question It probably will not mate onto the tranny's bell housing let alone engine mounting points...

"Mazda’s rotary sports package, which conveys an image of lightness."
.....lol? |
300RWP here we come!

nice find
it is in fact Renesis based, with side intake and exhaust, 6intake ports and 3 exhaust ports. The fuel should be injected just before the apex passes over the DI injector. They changed the rotor dish too (unless its just reflection), the shape of the top side should help guide the fuel and concentrate it on the dish. I thought they might position the DI injectors at around the 2 o'clock position, above the spark plugs, that way they could get more cooling as the fuel vapourizes more under (more) compression. Nonetheless they'll still get the cooling that results from vaporization (liquid to gas is endothermic). However, it will be a PITA to make a peripheral intake and exhaust 16X now that they've completely redesigned the housing. ________ Pattaya apartments |
Very interesting, while I wonder how the HP #'s will change over time...
700HP, 600HP, oh wait....no it's now 150HP....LOL;) Just messing, I still love my RX8 while my next car will most likely be the new Camaro since I'd like a V8 before it's too late and gas prices go even higher. Still, I can't wait to see what the next RX and Rotary engine end up looking like. |
renesis 8 its my own opinion that leads me to disagree with ur point where it shoots the fuel. i dont think itll shoot the fuel as the first apex crosses past it. its my own guess it fires at the end of intake and just at compression starting. where one of the apex seals would be at the 6 o clock position and the other two would be the 930 ish and 230 ish position. im guessing itll fire right before it starts to compress the air.
just a guess, thats all. i have no proof of this being true.... only thing i got to ask tho is does anyone else see the green connectors on the 10 o clock position of the rotor housings? look like connectors for fuel injectors? is it just me? |
I do see the green and black connectors too. I have no idea what they're for, for direct injectors, they should have another high pressure fuel pump somewhere in the engine, but those are too small to be it.

A Oz Member reliably inform me that the X means eXperimental...
So, in production it will possibly be called a 16A or C, I cant recall I think the FWD 13A in the R130 (early 70's) was a twin side seal unit (RG would know), but was a "long stroke" design type. So my theory (guess) is C... Any takers? |

It appears to be both direct and indirect injection. The green injectors are in the intermediate housing where the primaries have been located for the past 25 years. The blue injectors are the direct units. These are in the exact same location as the hydrogen injectors on the hydrogen engine which makes sense if they want to easily convert an engine to use it later.
|
are the oil injectors in a different position?
I can't tell if the rotor housings and intermediate housing are the same width, fixing the center exhaust port issue. the engine looks shorter from the picture, but that could be just my eyes |
:icon_no2: this is all made to kill the flooding issue once and for all!and to make sure the low end power band will put your head into the headrest to enjoy the spirt of the true rx8 the way it should be!but i'm happy anyways.:uhh:
|
The oil injectors look to be in the same location.
|
From the picture, the ports look larger, than the current engine. Also, since this would be an all new engine, wouldn't Mazda design the rear endplate to accept the current bell housing bolt pattern?
