Once a year, I travel about 1000 miles in a couple of weeks time. So, I can see why people buy this car and have it look like they don't drive it regularly.
I was talking about the people who insist on making it their "garage queen".

I'm assuming they do that since they have a beater car. The RX-8, compared to a beater civic, is LIKE a Ferrari

*EDIT* wtf Joshua being the spammer he is.

I dunno, I enjoy my 8 too much to just put it away for the weekends. 30 miles each way to work and back is always much more enjoyable in the 8.

I have my 8 as my weekend or around the town car. I do not and wont take it on my daily commute to work. 65 miles one way all highway no twisties or turns and 40% stop n go traffic on a daily basis. I would go through oil changes every 2 weeks, and fill up 2-3 times a week. its just not cost affective..

I wish I could drive it regularly, but the bozos on campus scare me. They just swing the door open with careless abandon and ding the sides of your car. So there is no way that my 09 RX8 GT is going anywhere near campus. I'll keep driving my daily runner to campus instead.

I drive my 8 when I have to carry something or somebody. ********* who swing open their doors carelessly suck - my doors look like I've been between two warring bb gun factions. I have a dream of having the whole body being constructed of carbon fibre and never having to park near the unwashed masses.

Sometimes I almost hope the sales for the RX-8 are low. It makes our car that much more rare and special. I know it's bad for the company and the car line but still, gotta be selfish sometimes right?
At this sales rate, it'll be more rare than the 3000 car / year production of the Ferrari California!

Right now the RX-8's value is lower than dirt partially because Mazda has $5K rebate on their cars right now! If anything, they need to shut the supply to the RX-8

Ill admit that sales # for Sept. actually shocks me. If I would have had to guess I would have easily guessed under 100. Face it, a market for this car pretty much does not exist anymore. I wonder if the huge rebates made those on the fence decide to get one

As for the posts on MPG...the problem is not the MPG alone, it is the fact that there are cars with huge V8s and 100+ more HP that can get mid-20s highway. When people see only 232 hp and 16/22, that's where the big turn off is for anyone who may consider this car.

And it's too bad, because they're missing out on a great car. Nevermind the value equation - based on what I've seen here you could take that rebate and do FI the right way.

That's actually pretty darn good for the 8, all things considered. It's definitely a niche car. I find it kinda funny to see the 6 bomb. They actually expected to sell 100k of those a year. Earth to Mazda: if people want a Camry, they're gonna buy a Camry.

100% quote. i've never understood why change the 6 into a mainstream model.

People still buy Accords and Camrys.

here in Europe the model is suffering too, while the old 6 was a huge success.
