Well I'll call today and make the appointment. Thanks for your help devious!

I don't see your pic in the girls & 8s thread.

I didn't receive a recall letter but I received SSP 67 which extends my 04 power train warranty to 5 year 60K miles. Will I still be receiving the recall letter?

Yeah cause I don't have any pics of use together.

And I got both my letters at the same time, but hadn't checked the mail in a few days, so they might have come separately.

And here's the harness posts FYI: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...51#post1515051

I dropped my 8 (05') off at the dealer today for the recall, and everything was complete in about 4 hrs. I even had them replace the engine mounts for a seperate engine shudder issue.

The service manager indicated that they have had quite a few cars come in for the recall already, but have yet to replace an engine. A good sign I guess... ....

^^^^ posts like that frustrate me.

I called 3 dealers in the area to see if they'd do the recall up here in New England (SE Mass). 2 of them stated the recall letters will be sent out on the 15th for our region and they can't do anything until then. One of them stated "it's only for certain vin ranges", to which I replied, "yep, all '04s, '05, and some '06". "Nope, just certain ones within those years." (Guess where I'm not bringing the car to?)

The 3rd just said 'we don't have any information on the recall yet'.

I'm trying to sell my car and it's contingent on the vaccuum test passing. Seems like dealers up here can't do anything yet. I plan on selling the car to someone in a couple weeks in Topeka at Nationals...

Why can't you sell the car now? The recall is good for owners of pre-owned RX-8's as well. You're just being nice - my guess.

Thats a perfect example of why they are pulling our survey results out. It isn't the car really, it is the completely incompetent dealers that don't know and don't care about the RX-8. My local dealer in TN is a good one...now. When I first bought my car they didn't know jack. It was just insane that I (the customer) knew more about my car than the dealer and even the techs that worked on the car. Since then my local dealer has hired new (and more qualified IMHO) techs that do know now and do seem to care. Many dealers have had a steep learning curve with the Rotary engine being out of circulation for so long. Some have really stepped up. The ones that got to the MNAO just flat out suck.

You're right, I could.

In this case, the buyer is informed about the recall issue. It would be preferred that the recall work be done before he takes ownership. I agree to that because I wouldn't want to buy a car that doesn't have a clean bill of health.

That said, I haven't experienced the power losses that others have mentioned/experienced, so I highly doubt they're going to do anything more than change the leading plugs, and re-flash it anyways, as the recall is written and as people have been writing about.

But doing the vaccuum test would offer great peace of mind.

My car's in until the afternoon: front license plate mount (for court, need to get rid of the ticket), new brake pads and the recall. Good dealership here, I didn't need to bring the letter or anything.

They were one of them. Tasca and Autocenter were the other 2.

I received my SSP 67 yesterday also...the East Coast will be the last to receive the recall letters in the roll-out....West Coast....Gulf Coast...and then the East Coast.

Norwood and Quirk are over an hour away from where I live....

It was explained that they don't have the equipment yet, (one went as far as to say it's a regional thing) which is entirely possible.

New England isn't hot, it's not dry, odds of having a recall here are going to be very low as it is. So being one of the last to get info is realistic. It's just a timing problem on my side, and I'm not expecting them to bend over backwards for me because of *my* time constraint (which isn't their problem).

let me make this plain to the people who are about to ask the same question that has been answered 47 times already in this thread and mutlitple times in other threads as well.

DO NOT REMOVE ANY AFTERMARKET PARTS FROM YOUR CAR FOR THE RECALL! IT IS NOT NECESSARY

i should just lock the thread right here for a few days to stop people who are about to ask...

Cool, I didn't need my reading glasses for that one.

I had no plans to remove stuff. I'm going in decals and all.

OK, can someone confirm that the North East region (or some parts of the North East region) will not have the complete recall info to dealers until the 15-Sep?

On my way to get a sandwich for lunch, I stopped by the local dealer and he's adamant that they cannot do anything until the 15th. The vin #s could be listed in the system as possibly needing the recall, but they can't do anything in their system until it has a link for it (or something like that).

This dealer is one of them "you can't beleive everything you read on the internet... they don't have all the info" service departments. (Autocenter in Middletown RI) I explained that I've seen the documents from MNAO that were sent to the dealer already with all the info they need to do (thanks Zoom!), who's affected, etc... to which he said "Those documents aren't official if they're not linked right to MNAOs site, and you need a password to get them." I offered to show him and he dind't want anything to do with it.

He also said, that they only have 'bits and pieces' of the recall and not all the info on it yet (that's the info that is coming on the 15th). I made and appointment for the 19th and he didn't have a problem with that.
