I am actually on hold with Mazda right now to change the name/address in their system. Hmmm...never heard the full-version of the Zoom-Zoom song before. Kind of catchy

Random mechanical vacuum testing results done last Friday and yesterday: 05 6spd, 27,599 miles, hot idle: 17"hg, hot idle with a/c on 15.5"hg.

04 6spd, 1500 miles on reman engine, hot idle: 17.5", hot idle with a/c on: 16"hg

I'll check mine tonight and post up. I took readings at vacuum port on intake plenum that is capped w/red cap when RevI intake is installed. I will also check at port being used for recall test and see if there is a difference although it's doubtful.

The upside to getting your recall serviced first is that there are supposedly new engines in the queue for early birds whose bad engines will be remanufactured for later recallees.

Hopefully the engines are in chrono order or you're screwed.

The new engines are in the queue for the areas of highest demand, such as Vegas. I doubt anyone in New England or NY, for example, would get a new one.

What if I change address in the Mazda system to Vegas, that'll work right?

What car are you looking at instead?

Leaning heavily towards a Mazd 5 GT, 2007 year added a leather trim, HID equipped model so its getting tempting for the $20ish range, would be nice to see a MS5 make it.

Called my Dealer service manager today and he said to call back in two weeks since that is when he is supposed to have everything he needs to perform the recall.

Going in tomorrow to get my visor replaced can't wait hahaha.. I played nice today when I went in to set the apointment, though I was so tempted to stop at my place first to pick up the pdf's I printed up.

Think I'll start by mentioning to them how our warrenty's got extended by a year and how/why that came about. Especially since if I remember Mazda recently lowered their warrenty for their other vehicles, why up the 8's?

Then again you guys are blowing smoke up my rear haha.

If you get serviced in Vegas, it just might work.

Oh noes! But the reman can't pull better vacuum than a non-reman, can it? I mean, it's like used and stuff. ;-)

What about it? All recalls apply to 8s under 60k.

I think it's the intake manifold when injecting fuel.

I'm with you guys. My car seems to be fine at the moment and I'm in no hurry to be the guinea pig.

And now for some legit information. I just got off the phone with customer service to update my address. The rep I spoke with stated that they were told of the recall a little over a week ago and that there is a link in their system they can click on when the letters have dropped to inform a customer whether or not their letter has been sent. He said that the link isn't clickable yet indicating none of them have hit the mail, but I suppose we already knew that.

Something I haven't read so far in this thread though is that he also said that the West and Gulf regions will be issued the first wave of letters.

Hey, look on the bright side! atleast these engines are so simplistic that they can be easily produced. Man, just think if it had all those moving parts like a piston driven engine. Engine not working? here's three more! one should work! We're working on a six-pack you can buy at checkers as we speak.

*note: this comment was made without actually knowing how much a single renesis engine costs to manufacture and deliver
