Facelifted RX8 revealed!!!!

Gorgeous! That's my opinion. If I could afford another right now, I'd be in it.
For those who are saying it's not sufficiently different; that's what a FACELIFT is.
Very well done.
Paul.

Hmmm....where would the nav screen be placed? I wonder if that option is deleted? Also interesting, no sunroof on this model but it has a nice leather interior.

Mazda RX-8 RS Facelift Photos Released (JA)
Ahead of Tokyo Auto Salon debut
The facelifted Mazda RX-8 will be on show at the Detroit Auto Show (starting this Sunday) but this Friday the sportier Mazda RX-8 RS, also facelifted, will make its appearance at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Ahead of that show Mazda has released two images.
Mazda released no accompanying text so official specs will remain under wraps until the press conference in Tokyo tomorrow. What we can say is that the facelift comprises of new, sharper and sportier front fascia. The air-intakes have grown on each side of the five-point grille, and the foglights which are incororated there are smaller and no longer round.
At the bottom of the new bumper we see a splitter with small flaps which increase stability and the airflow to the wheels and brakes. Also the RX-8 RS sits on 19 inch wheels and features a rear spoiler, neither of which is likely to make it to the regular RX-8 facelift.
The revised RX-8 is mainly meant for the US and Japan, but Europe may still see the new RX-8 in showrooms. MotorAuthority has more low resolution photos which will most likely be officially released tomorrow.

those seats are wicked!!! i wonder how light they are, and if whatever-that-package-is that comes with recaro seats will also have heated seats/auto seats. maybe it's a grand touring OR sport, making you pick.
don't care for the steering wheel either.
overall look to me is very nice. thanks altspace for showing colors and lowering it, looks better. i might spring for those taillights if they fit, i like those. looks like the headlights are skinnier too, so we probably couldn't get those or the front end, maybe if we got both...i like the vent/side light better than ours. overall good job, and nice to see a change that looks really good but doesn't make me like mine any less!!

oh, i do like the back bumper, with the integrated red reflectors above the exhaust. i was behind another 8 on a windy road here one day when it was rainy and foggy and with his lights on, the tails weren't bright enough, which we had something more like this...

Mazda managed to make changes that will bring new interest to the 8, while not outdating my existing car. I think it's a good deal overall.
The only reason I'd consider looking at getting a new 8, is if they produced them with the 16x.

again, i'd go in for the tails, reflectors above exhaust if possible. i'm not against the front end, but i would definitely not buy it. oh, and the seats of course

I like the new rear a lot. It makes it easier to work on the car because the exhaust isn't trapped in the exhaust shrouds. Also the bottom of the bumper doesn't have as much crappy black plastic that slowly turns gray.
My current bumper has a small crease in it from when something fell onto it. One of these days I'll replace it, and the face lift rear looks better to me than what we currently have available.
What do you guys think? the new taillight the same dimensions as the old one?

IMO the interior has some nice touches compared to what I have on my leather 04' grand touring..
FRONT: The front is definitely facelifted but while we had nice symmetry before, we now have too much going on.. I think just about all the body kits i've seen are better..
THE FRONT IS TOO BUSY!
SIDE: Side markers remind me of BMW, maybe the M5
BACK: I think the lights in backd are a little more aggressive looking. I like the back end the most for sure..
ENGINE: hahahaha hmmmm

I think overall stock for stock, the revise version is an improvement. I think seeing it in person will make a difference, as our current version really never looked that great in pictures.

Butt ugly. I won't be purchasing the new 8 in January 09. Out of all the speculation this was the absolute last design I hoped to see. Butt Ugly.
The front looks like an MR2 bummped into a Porsche Cayenne, and tagged by a Camaro.
The fenders vents look like saab, and the rear looks like a dodge neon.
Bring on the RX-9
