Sorry guys...my BAD!!!
I checked out the "New" RX-8 Tonight (showroom Closed) but it is not the
Anniversary Model, just a standard Grey 2007 model...
The Mazda Australia website says the Anniversary Model will be available next month (January 08)...
Quote:
The Mazda RX-8 (Wheels Car of the Year in 2003) and MX-5 (Wheels Car of the Year 2005) continue Mazda’s brand dominance of the sports car category – a position which Mazda expects to enhance with the 40th Anniversary limited edition RX-8, due to hit dealerships next month.

If Mazda wants to sell 40th anni models they should have released them ealier. Maybe that's one of the reasons they kept their cards so close to their chest; not wanting to create too much excitement for 09s when they hadn't moved the anniverary models yet.
Seal.

Autoblog gives its take on the 40th anniv. edition here:
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/17/f...ecial-edition/
One not-so-nice soundbyte from the article:
Mazda's official hyperbole about the RX-8 brags that the car changed customer expectations of what an affordable sports car should be when they launched the four-place coupe in 2003. It sure did; we've now come to expect less than the stated power output from the Renesis Wankel, which also swills oil like a... well, like a Wankel.
But there are some compliments after that.

Looked at a black 40th Anniversary Model (yes we have black in Australia), made Dec,2007.
Same looks a M Grey model ^^^above.
Yes it does have a "silver" engine cover. (the Silver is only on the "Rotor" shaped design on the cover, the rest is black)
18" Alloys as above.
Bilstein Shocks
Alcantara Vented Seat trim inserts
Looks Good apart from the "Limited Badges"
Price $55,000k AUD !!
