Confirmed, 08 40th Anniversary Model for US
The Mazda RX-8 redefined the sports car segment when it was launched in summer 2003, and it continues to shake up the automotive world’s definition of what a sports car can be. With an exterior suggesting athletic tension, a unique twin-rotor RENESIS rotary engine and an interior offering comfort and practicality, the 2008 Mazda RX-8 continues to be a cutting-edge sports car, as well as the only mass-produced rotary-powered car in the world.
RX-8’s unique, athletically sculpted styling features freestyle doors and enough passenger room for four adults. Powered by either a 212-hp engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or 232-hp engine with a six-speed manual transmission, RX-8 is equipped with power windows, mirrors and door locks, cruise control and a six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system. The 2008 RX-8 is priced from $26,435. New or enhanced for 2008: To help celebrate the 40 th Anniversary of Mazda’s rotary engine, Mazda will offer a limited-edition 40 th Anniversary RX-8. Available in early 2008, the 40 th Anniversary RX-8 will feature a special Metropolitan Gray exterior/Cosmo Red leather interior color scheme, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, suspension enhancements, fog lamps, silver engine cover and special badging. |

Metropolitan GRAY!!! Duco with Cosmo Red Interior! |
NOOOO!!!!
damnit i KNEW i should have waited instead of getting my 2006 galaxy grey shinka; :banghead: maybe if i get a can of krylon and spray paint the engine cover silver i can fool people.....:puke:  |
I was looking for the source of this information so I went to Mazda's News site and here it is (if it was already posted, sorry for being blind).
http://media.ford.com/mazda/article_...25&make_id=227 Sounds interesting. I wonder how the car looks with the new paint and leather interior. |
^ kinda like an s2000 color scheme. i like it.
That's pretty lame.
I concur. Just bring on the next rotary.
It's like what they did with the Miata- every six months there was another "special edition"
forget these SPECIAL edition 8's.. mazda needs to make a "regular" edition 8 that wont' be left behind in the straights
kickass!! another shade of gray!!!1111 omg, wtf is up with Mazda and gray? Like 2-3 shades isn't enough? silver engine cover, wow...awesome. :ugh: How about throwing in some carbon fiber or something? They did such a better job with the FD special editions, what the heck happened to the people who came up with those? (Bathurst R, R1, etc etc) :P
You realize it would cost you less to make your own then it would for you to buy one if they make one. And yours would probably go faster too.
moAr c0loRz ple3z!!!11!11
is it gonna have a better transmission. mazda should at least do that too.
maybe throw in a pie - rotary-shaped. |
Pathetic. Compare the RX-8's enhancements with Mazda's newer models. I'll take the Mazda5's enhancements over the 8's anyday.
break out the cigars.
I'll :smoker: to that.
 |
could have atleast throw in some complementary mazdaspeed parts, intake, exhaust strut bar....atleast it would add something not so ordinary to it.
if they really wanted to add a special color they should have did a copper orange, or that metalic/pearl black color thats in europe... |
Nothing impress me, expect the word, "Turbo"
Great way for (ford) Mazda to screw up another thing!
woohoo!!
^ what he said.
I wonder what they mean by suspension enhancements and if those wheels are any wider. Heavy duty springs and wider wheels would be nice.
Matt |
Foam iside the frame. Just like the Shinka's
the only thing that catches my attention are these "new wheels". I wonder what they'll look like.
