why even bother putting that rear lip on? i still think it looks pretty grundleish, but better than that blue one originally shown with the borat 'stache and ugly foglights.

Best cleanest shots yet, good work!

Now if I could just get over my "what were they thinking" gut reaction to looking at it every time I see new pics I'm hoping to suddenly say "Wow it looks so beautiful", but it just doesn't happen

The rear tails light look like bugs eyes in the day light.

Riced out pimp chrome reminds me of Hunydai Tiberion.

Side marker looks bad with the black plastic and says.... Wannabee BMW

I hope it can be removed. But, it looks like you have to get a grille replacement kit and it will not be easy.

The shape is not disturbing, it actually looks decent. You just need a kit to remove the ugly as hell plastic and replace it with a better looking design.

I hope the 3rd party companies have their grille replacements kits and some kits for the plastic in front of the oil coolers ready.

For the sake of new RX-8 owners, I hope they go with the Mazdaspeed front, looks better.

I wish. Dual clutch ftw!

I guess it's time for Mazda to develop one though since Nissan, Mitsu, VW, etc... all have one now.

the more i look at this thing, the more bird-like it appears.

the plastic grill thing reminds me of a beak and the oil cooler inlets remind me of spread wings. as i'm typing this, the word "chickenhawk" is repeating in my head.

even the M in the Mazda logo reminds me of how children draw birds with crayons.

This nose design reminds me of a certain Ferrari model.

Its also vaguely possible that they help smooth airflow and direct it at a perpendicular angle to the oil coolers for better cooling. It looks like the oil cooler openings are larger (more air), I hear the oil coolers themselves are larger (more heat transfer) and there are some other reliability changes to the oil system. So I take it Mazda is doing one of three things :

1) Making people who track their cars happy
2) Preparing for a more powerful engine by boosting reliability
3) Having too many problems with blown seals from overheated engines

In any case, once people get used to the new styling (similar plastic slots are also on the VW R32), reliability changes can't be bad. They just aren't as sexy as another 80 hp.

the license plate when attached to that protruding plastic part may look awkward

there should have been a flattened portion where the plate can be attached nicely

Not a fan of the tail lights, but I like that they did away with most of the black plastic around the exhaust. Then what? They re-shaped it and glued it to the nose?
I like the changes they made to the front but that black stuff really cheapens the look, especially on the blue color. I think it looks ok on the gray, and I like the overall shape.
So are those clear corner lights? I like the location. Wonder if they will officially roll out with ugly orange ones instead.

Steering wheel is just plain hideous.
