What's that clank?
For about 2 months now, I had been hearing a loud metal "clank" when I went over some rough bumps (a.k.a. - change of surface on an asphalt highway going to a concrete overpass). It was driving me nuts and I was going paranoid as to what it could be. I finally decided to resolve it at my next service, which was today.
In what I thought was an unrelated incident, about 1 week ago, I noticed my front rotary accent dangling, so I removed it before I lost it. I figured I could get that fixed at the next service, which was today.
So I complained about both issues. Later in the day I got a call telling me they didn't hear a clank and that the service is done. I received a pleasant surprise, a new rotary accent, replaced under warranty (I still have the old accent). I was extremely angry that the dealer didn't find the clank. It was loud and obvious, how could they not find it?
Shortly after I left, it all came to me. I haven't heard the clank either, for about a week. 1+1 = Loose rotary accent make clanking noise.
Morale of the story - don't do drugs - it turns you into the mentally challenged. :p oh - and check your rotary accent if you start hearing a clank.
Of note: I went in for my 37.5K mi service. I asked for the 37.5K mi service. They did the oil change. But they didn't do the spark plug change. Since when do I have to do the dealer's job? Why wouldn't they leap at he opportunity of a client that is willingly being gauged? Well either way, I am definitely going to start doing my own basic service. Warranty will be up in 6 months - nothing to loose now.
