145,7xx miles, today -- FINALLY got her the rotary center wheel caps (thanks, tommy @ rosenthal!). Had been meaning to do that since I bought her new in 2005. But, as usual Life always threw wrenches at me and didn't make it happen till today.

Looks so sharp I wonder how I could go eight years knowing these exist without getting her a set. Looks sharrrp, especially on the darker Shinka wheels.. I might put up a pic after I wash her.. shes filthy right now.

Oh and did an oil change after a particularly vigorous half-hour drive.

"CAP ***" -- sometimes I wonder if computers have a sense of humor.. that's the name of the wheel caps on the label. o.O

Had a "walk of shame" moment with Engine Flooding day before yesterday. Removed my UIM so I could look inside the LIM and check the condition of my SSV since I was getting the p2070 code still.

It was kinda gross in there. Lots of reddish crabon buildup along the runners, and when I opened the SSV manually I saw a good amount of oily goop inside. Cleaned it all up with carb cleaner and it shined everything right on up, but my dumb *** neglected to think about where all the gunk would go upon engine start.

Buttoned everything up OK, which was nice because it was first time removing the UIM. Went to start everything up, and then she sputtered and stalled out. Did some research and decided to pull the plugs. They were pretty gross and caked in carbon, most likely what was in the LIM. Cleaned them off, flushed the remaining fuel out of the combustion chambers, put everything back together, and started her up and cleaned her out. LOTS of smoke and it still stinks in my garage hahaha.

Yesterday I took the 8 down to my mechanic friend at the dealership so he could look at it and make sure nothing else was wrong with it. He checked it with his reader and it was still just the same p2070 code. He looked at it later on that day (lent me his WRX so I could get around. It was pretty fun to drive.) and found it was most likely the switch to the SSV causing problems, since he could use IDS to move the SSV just fine. So yea...wasted a good chunk of time with that, but learned a good deal about some of the innards of the Renesis through some hands-on work. Not a total loss.

Now, does anyone know if it's possible to just order the switch? According to my mechanic the switch only comes with the whole SSV assembly. Is there a separate part number for just the switch?

sounds like a battery problem to me. If you hear clicking that means you're getting voltage to the starter, but there may not be enough to turn her over. Get a jump/use a Charge Pack and try again?

Maybe a starter problem?
I don't think it would even click if the main fuse is blown, but I'm not sure.
Maybe try tapping the starter with a hammer while someone turns the key.
It sounds crude, but it sometimes works.
Good luck.

Just installed a new clutch. Special thanks to BHR, they went above and beyond to make this happen for me today.

Looks good, thinking about doing the clay bar on mine, she has been under wraps for a few years while driving the MX-5.

Roundtrip, L.A. and San Diego. Put in 300 miles in a 13.5 gallons fill-up and the indicator just lit up! I may have another 20-25 miles in the tank if I keep it running in fumes.

Might have an answer for that. Mine broke as well and I removed it from the car and used a 2 part opoxy. Clamped it together and resealed the edges. holding fine so far.
