Went to Dallas this weekend. Didn't get to go to drag mania because my son wasn't behaving so I drove around Dallas. Fun city to drive around in (as long as you don't want to actually get where you want to go. Worst street signs ever.) Hit 120 at one point.

Then I finally got my hands on some premix. Got 18.5 mpg to Dallas and in my first premix tank backgot almost 21mpg on the way back. It held up in my 7 so iI'm going to do it in my 8.

Man its great to drive an 8.

Did the summertime major detail...clay'd with Mother's clay system, and then put on a nice coat of Zymol cleaner wax. Something to tide her over until I can afford paint correction and nano coating.

Hit 120MPH with your son in the car? Smart.

I did this freshly painted MS front and hood. Sides and freshly painted fender go on next weekend.

Hell no. He's never been faster than 85 or so. I was visiting my brother and my step brother. My step brother is buying a GTI so I took him out to show him the light. THAT is when I hit 120.

Might not have made that clear but prior to this trip I had never gone more than 85-90 in the car with or without my son.

Got my first speeding ticket. Ever.

Only 10 miles over in a 75 mph zone where everybody else was going about the same speed as I was. I totally didn't deserve it. So then the officer threw me pointed question about all my mazdaspeed add ons.... I think he just wanted to check out my car...

You were speeding so you deserved it. 10 MPH is over the limit. There is not a law that allows you to be X amount over. Nor is matching the flow of traffic an excuse. It happens to all of us. Sucks. But you have to deal with it.

BTW many states it is illegal to go 10 MPH less than the posted limit on highways and freeways. So do not slow down too much! LOL

Burnt the midnight oil replacing the ignition coils, spark plugs, and removed the side walls inside the air box. Waiting for the cabin and air filters I've ordered. Those will go in, hopefully this weekend.

After I finished up last night, started the car and it was unusually loud then threw a CEL (P0102 and P0113). I was like: "WTH?" Popped the hood again and I have seemed to forget to plug the MAF sensor and VFAD vacuum tube back in. I had the car sit overnight coz' I did a KAM reset, once I fill up I will dtive it on the freeway to see if I can feel/hear a noticeable difference.

Talking

Changed the coils and the plugs today. The plugs definitely looked like they had a lot of miles on them. The car is a lot smoother now.

Also did the rear brakes, oddly enough the last owner had recently changed the pads (they looked new) but left the rotors which were way too thin. Ended up changing both anyway. Not too bad and no more damn screeching.
