What did you do with your RX8 today?

I just picked up my baby from the Mazda dealer today. Essentially had the entire EPS system replaced. I was so happy to finally get her back after almost 3 weeks I did a little drift.

Sorry but certainly in the UK its a documented fact, theres NO need to patronise me, i'm tying to help the guy!
Any specialist over here will give the same advise. Mazda ran the RX7s on 10W40 with no problems with the main bearings (the same ones carried over to the Renesis engine), then they changed their recommended oil to 5W30 and within a few years, the same bearings started to fail regularly. He said it was the first time it had had synth' at 81k miles, could there be a reason I wonder? Like I said, just trying to help and pass on knowledge that I have gained form people who rebuild these cars for a living. Its also WELL KNOWN that full synth does not burn cleanly and the Renesis engine needs to burn some oil as part of the chamber lubrication process, thereby resulting in unesessary build ups of deposits, resulting in early cat fail, apex spring failure, etc, etc. The only time full synth should be used is if the car is fitted with a Sohn adaptor so the main crankcase oil is not used in rotor lubrication.
Like I said, I was trying to be helpfull and pass on good advise in good faith.

Listen, i'm an active member over on a UK forum as well and am fully aware that the oil debate can be a contensious one and had no intention of starting another oil debate. Just because I have only been a member here since Jan doesnt mean i'm clueless about these cars or their mechanics. I have had alot of experience of Mazdas over the years in the motor trade thanks very much, its only recently that i've actually bought my own, thats all.
Now, if you saw someone posting something that you hoestly believed was potentially dangerous or damaging to the car, would you not say something? If i saw a guy posting that hed just bought a cheap set of rock hard Chinese or South African tyres (ditchfinders) I wouldnt say nothing just because there had been other tyre threads either for example. Even Mazda's OWN recommended oil is not full synth, do you presume to know more than they do?
I'll ignore your patronising tone in the view that youve had a few (so have I, good old Jack ) but my opinion still stands, its up to him if he wants to act on it or research it further.

Hi everyone. End of January I changed oil, air filter, laser plugs, wires, coils, cleaned MAF, rotated tires, got Torque app & Bluetooth dongle, and bought a BHR midpipe for my 04 yellow GT. Before I could install pipe I had an MRI for my aching shoulder and was sandbagged with news that I had leukemia. Covered my baby that I had just bought in August and has sat there ever since. Treatment is going well and I'm feeling pretty good. Reading the Club's posts has kept me thinking about warmer weather and better days. Thanks to everyone for their help, humor and occasional lol flamers. Every day is a blessing and I can't wait to drive my 8. Laissez le bon temp rouler! (Let the good times roll!)

Ok so Mazda UK recommends semi ONLY but Mazda US seems not to, is that MY FAULT? This is a forum designed to HELP people, why are you being so confrontational? IF people are not entitled to post an opinion based on YEARS OF EXPERIENCE then why even bother reading stuff here. Stop trolling.
Oh and if theres one thing i've learnt after over 20 YEARS in the motor trade its this, Don't take ANYTHING a main dealer says or recommends for granted. Those that do are naive to say the least. I'd much rather trust the opinion of a Specialist, someone who actually KNOWS what theyre doing and thats where i've got my info from.

It's been ten months driving around with that crushed fender. I found a totaled-donor car of the same color three months ago that had a front-end collision. Drove 120 miles away four days ago to pick it up and finally found some time to replace/install that piece this evening. Some fitment issue near the corner light, but I will deal with that and try to straighten out that gap later, once I find the time again.

Well, after replacing the exhaust with a de-cat pipe and a new backbox, realised just how loud this thing is now... not sure the coppers will like it though...
Finished full service on the car... replaced all the coils, sparks and ignition leads, dropped all the oil, gear box oil and diff oil... all replaced and basically gone to town on anything, cleaning connectors and god knows what... also replaced brake pads with EBC Yellow Stuff, dropped the brake fluid and put in ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid DOT 4, replaced the brake hoses with HEL steel red braided hoses...
Result, 215bhp (although hardly any difference in torque at all) it's kicking out now. Still way down on factory but hey ho... that's to be expected. Running very very sweet now, but christ removing the CAT hasn't half made the car noisy lol. Wasn't quite expecting the rumble around 3,000rpm that you now get :-)
Piccies? I clayed my Saab a couple of years ago (black) and was astounded at the finish, was so smooth...
