Unreal service experience
Went to get my free oil change yesterday and my defrost button fixed. I set it up with my seller and he said everything was there and this is important because its a long drive to this dealer. Took them over an hour and all the did was the oil change and told me they would have to order the parts. The parts my seller already marked to hold for me. Anyway, I drive the car off the lot and smell burning. Pull over and open the hood, smoke and I see oil so I assume they spilled a little and it was just burning off. I drive 30 + miles and smell it stronger coming through the vents. Pull over and sure enough its leaking. Drive all the way back. they take it for another hour and say its fixed. They put 18 miles on the car in this hour. They tell me it was to burn the excess oil off. I am pissed, they put gas in my car, but not very much and by that time I was too damn tired to bother and headed on the long trip home. today, I drive home from work and sure enough I smell it again and it is leaking again. This is a damn oil change not rocket science. Still waiting on them to call me back. Unreal.

Geez, you are really getting bent over! No lube, no hug and a kiss, no reach-around.. NOTHING!
I would be talking to a General Manager at this point. You need at least a tank of gas outta these geniuses. That is RIDICULOUS!

That REALLY sucks.. I would reccomend changing your own oil in the future. I change my own.. it save the hassle and is extremely simple to do.

bmcc49er - the name of the offending morons errrr... dealership would go a long way to help your fellow 8 owners in the area avoid this problem (dealership)
Sorry to hear that you've got "special Ed" changing your oil... I know it was a freebie, but damn! Learn to do it yourself (personally, I find it very relaxing to work on my own cars... hated it when I turned wrenches for a living, but now it's actually enjoyable).

If you take it back to them again for an oil change, check the level, mine was overfilled by the dealer last oil change, I didn't check it 'til 700 miles later and it was still 1/2 an inch over the fill line. I learned my lesson!

My last service was great, I asked them if my pads were going because I heard squeal (knowing there was a TSB). They did everything, reflashed without me asking, explained to me why very well, and ordered the new pads. My services have been excellent so far.

Well other then having to drive all the way back it turned out well. It was overtightened and had a small leak. When I went back to get my car it was clean as a whistle. I asked if they had a drive thru wash and he said no we hand detail them and my tank was full which was even better because the low fuel light was on when I pulled in Northtowne Mazda in KC, MO. I planned on doing my own oil changes and only let them do it because I was supposed to get other stuff done. I won't take it there for a oil change but I would recommend them for the simple reason they actually gave a damn about making it right.

Mistakes can happen.
The reason I never let dealers change my oil is they all over tighten the filter.
I've spent three hours getting an oil filer off from the dealer.

OK, now I don't know. Drove it around this weekend and after going 80+ I came into town and at a stoplight the burning smell came through the vents again. Parked in my garage, two fresh little spots of oil and the dipstick is halfway between low and full. This is after the supposeded fix Thursday mind you. No oil is coming from under the filter that I could see and the oilpan plug is clean as a whistle. Any ideas? Hope those jackasses didn't do something when they were out driving it(joyriding I bet). Will call first thing in the morning but this is just unbeleiveable for a damn oil change I could have done myself. Could there still be oil that they couldn't get to to clean off the engine, but then again that wouldn't explain why it is so low right now unless they didn't bother to refill it. %^!$@^*

bmcc49er, we have a forum for JUST this kind of complaint. Please post your issues in the "Bad Mazda Dealerships" thread, here. Be sure to include the name and city of the dealership. Mazda definitely pays attention to that thread.

Thanks, not quite ready to give them a full blown negative until I know all the facts. Thus far they have bent over backwards but I don't know if thats just what it appears to be or not the whole truth. I will see what happens tomorrow before I can say if it was just an honest mistake or not.
