Agreed. Then again, so do most tires labeled "ultra high performance".

When tires like these are available at only a few bucks more than mediocre off brands it's an easy decision. They're significantly less expensive than the Pilot Sport 2, yet both tires run neck and neck. Without getting into a very short lifed tire like the RE-01R, this is the best Bridgestone performance tire.

I had never heard of the Avons until a couple of years ago....where are they made?

Agree. I have two sets of tires, but in the DC area I'm using all-weather tires for winter. I'm not going to drive the RX8 in snow anyway, but I do want something that will grip below 40F.

I went with Blizzaks for the past year, mainly 'cause it co$ts 80.00 to dismount the runflats and mount summer tires. For this summer, I bought a set of used rims and Pilot's and will keep my Blizzaks on the stock wheels for the winter.

Supposed to be faster than the Azenis. Hey that's what they said.
But sucks in below 40 degrees. Like it ever gets that cold here in South Mississippi.

Treadwear rating over 140? Are they legal for ST classes?
