I couldn't order a new starter and put it in myself, I needed the car back (daily driver) and it was already towed to the dealership anyway. I wasn't expecting a new starter to be needed.

Demanding the small body shop to pay for all of it still doesn't make sense to me. They would refuse, then what? Make a court case? I don't exactly have the free time for that.

Now, once I was on my way home with my car back, I hit redline in 2nd gear and the CEL came on. It never ends, does it?

Got to +1 poolshark buying ANYTHING, but an RX 8.

You are so nervous about this thing man, and you don't even own one! Yeah, it might flood. In 66K miles it hasn't happened to me, but I take care not to have that happen. Yeah, you have to check the oil. If that's a problem then forget getting the gear oil changed, listening for the rev buzzer when accelerating, or any of the other wankel specific things that are going to happen. You don't want this. You want the Z. Trust me you'll be happier. I can't take it any more. JUST BUY THE NISSAN!!!!!!!

Sorry for the ranty hijack. I just can't listen to this any more.

Almost 3 years and no floods yet. But, if it were to happen within my powertrain coverage, you better believe that I'd fight it!

New here, have had my 2005 for almost a year and 3 floods so far.

First one was my fault for not being aware, doh!!

Second one was due to a light being left on, so low battery...

Third one was son starting to drive and he messed up the start so his fault.

All three towed in and covered under warantee. First time they did the upgrades for free. The other two got new plugs for free each time. Heck the last one they gave me my oil change for free too because it took them all day to get me my car back!!

The service managers are well aware of the issue, they know the non-start procedure does not work at least at my dealer.
