Hey guys I am new to the site and will show you all my car once i get it done (Very soon I hope) but I need to repaint the silver side console pieces and was just wondering what the trick is to getting them off the console. Can anyone give a few pointers with that?

Im thinking its the little silver trim on the sides of the center console where the shifter is?

if *thats* what the OP is talking about then

he have to take out the *whole* center console to get those side pieces out.

I replaced mine with Mazdaspeed version. So I know how it works
(Mine comes in Piano black, thats why when he said *silver* piece I was like ???)

Yes those are the right pieces. The trim pieces on the side of the console. So you have to take out the entire console to get them off?

To be honest, i wouldnt paint them. They will most likely get dull, discolored, worn away, etc. your best bet would be to buy new ones, or find someone parting a car out and get ones still in good condition

The entire center console has to come out to get at those, but it's not that hard. There are a few clips and a handful of screws to remove then it pretty much lifts right out. Check out the factory service manual PDF's available on the site for more info on removing them.

If you want to paint them, take the time to do them properly or the paint will wear off. In fact, it will probably wear off anyways.
