1st gear- i pulled
2nd gear- he began to pull
3rd gear- He pulled me about 1.5-2.5 car lengths..
4th gear- it remained the same

but i wasnt in 4th gear for to long..

my friend who has his stock si (another buddy)
He was liek you want see something.. i was liek ok

We did a 15MPH roll and he pulled me 1st second and into 3rd he stopped pulling but he already had me at 1 car length i was like!!!1 WTF

we stopped and i was liek what did you put on your car

because i had ran against him before i had installed my ignition solution and my cobb.. plus i also have intake.. 9lb flywheel and power pulleys and cat back.. and we were pretty close i would pull hima little bit up until the end of 4th gear..

RojoOcho, as a former ION owner where "good for what it is" was my slogan for 4 years, I respect what you are saying. Also, that the Civic is very good mechanically.

Personally, I really tried to get myself in one, but IMHO it is one of the ugliest cars being made these days. To me the car looks creepy. But it does get great gas mileage.

If we're talking easy mod, might as well get a used WRX and AP the sucker. $Mod/hp is one of the best on the market today.
Civic Si is definitely faster than an MX-5 though.

I'm with you on the coupe. I think the coupe is terrible. But the Sedan, in my opinion, is one of the best sport compact sedan designs I've ever seen. From the elongated dast to the short front end, I really like it. Lots of room inside too. Civic Si is an AWESOME daily.

But in straight line its pretty dead even..

Civic winning if it has a good driver..

N/A for N/a the civic beats the 8

when you get into the double clutching on those civics and stay within the vtec range and reduce the lag it is a great improvement.. I would never double clutch my car..

put headers and cat delete and exhaust and intake on the civic.. the rx8 cant keep up on the STRAIGHTS..

the 8 HAS by farrr much better handling.. but those little civics are quick be careful and dont underestimate em.. so on the track.. civic will get spanked..
This isn't true. Above 80mph the rx8 is considerably faster. I went against a SI coupe several times on the freeway. My car dynoed at 192 whp.

The tank is 2 gallons smaller than the rx-8 too.

No matter how you say it, or how many nice things you say about it. It's still a civic and it's still ugly.

It's cool. I knew when I bought it I would catch flak because of what it was called. If it was a Mazda 4 or something it wouldn't take 75% of the **** it takes. But hey... whatever.

I love it.

actually physics take over after 80 mph a stock civic will just pull a tad bit on the 8
but still be dead even

My friends was stock.. mine wasnt..

192 HP stock?? or what do you have on it?

The driver probably doesnt know how to drive.. many factors can take place..
Did you take off first did he start in high gear etc, etc

if my friend shifted bad id beat him 1.5 car lengths easily.. but i know my car wont do that if we both shift really well..

as long as you love it bro its just sad that people cant respect others decisions and right away bash them..

some 8 owners kind of remind me of when i go to a muscle car show with my little 8. they are real penises

My friend has a Civic Si and I really like it. The RX-8 and Civic Si are similar, but fill different missions. His Si is about the same weight as my base RX-8; my base might even be a bit lighter as my car is about 20 pounds lighter than stock. Both cars have similar engine characteristics; weak kneed at the bottom with everything up top. The 13B-MSP is a bit smoother than K20, but of course the K20 uses a lot less gas. The RX-8 handles better, though the Si is really not that shabby in that regard and is one of the better handling cars out there. Also, the Si actually has a backseat that will fit adults behind my seating position, which the RX-8 can't do. However, I much prefer the RX-8's cabin as it feels like a true cockpit, whereas you can tell the Si's interior is a tarted up sedan interior.

I'm totally with you about the 2dr. It's terrible. The four door... not so much. Obviously.

A lot of people are working with those I noticed on my vic forum. I admit for window reflectors they look pretty good. But I wouldn't get them.

Take them both to a road course and you will se why the si is inferior to the 8. Though I do like it as a DD but not as a track car.

I was crafting another fact-filled and well-thought reply when I thought, why does this thread even exist? Am I seriously arguing the merits of an RX8 over a stupid Civic? If you have to ask, you'll never know.

It boils down to traction. They trap about the same so the hp to weight ratio is very close as is the torque and the powerband isn't all that much different. The Civic puts down a little less power to the wheels but also weighs a little less. The Civic loses most of its time on the launch and the 1-2 shift and after that they're close to even. Anyone with an RX-8 that has pulled much on the Civic SI on the highway probably raced a poor driver or has a freak RX-8.

I have the rb intake and exhaust.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never lost against one. Not to sound cocky, but I'm pretty good at shifting fast.
