RPM too high in 6th gear?

Is there some kind of formula that converts the number of rotations of the shaft to the number of rotations of the wheels, for a given gear, or speed?

I used to ask myself the same question when I first got it. Coming from a 97 Cobra that cruises 75MPH @ 2100RPM, I was a lil devistated initially to see that i'm sitting at like, 3600 on the 8!
However, as others have said, considering the extremely weak lower end on a rotary, it must stay a lil higher to keep cruising fluently!
Since then, the more i think about it the more it amazes me that going 80@ 4K RPM's gives an overall QUIETER ride then cruising 70MPH@2100 in the Cobra. And they both have stock exhaust. I LOVE the fluent, quiet motor of the 8. But yet, when you light it up on a run, it still screams up high!
