I know, u think im stupid?

Read what I said, they can only charge Mazda up to a *certain amount* set by Mazda, but when they charge Customers like *me and you*, they always go by *at least 1 hour*

Which one is better : 0.3 hour of labor or 1 Full hour ?

Now next question, who makes more money ?

Warranty service that they cant make money off from parts, and can only charge 0.3 hours of labor, or a Brake job that takes 30 minutes to do + they charge full hour + rip ppl off with the parts.

Mazda Corporate should be able to give you the information without any problems. As long as you're the verified customer, you cant just email them to ask for the information above, you have to call them then tell them your email address.

Or if your dealership is *not a bitch* you might be able to tell them to print a copy of it. They have access to some pages with a list of all the warranty work performed at your car. When I was there I just asked him and he printed me a copy of it.

Waited for about 1.5 hrs and the invoice noted that they spent 0.6 hrs doing the MSP16 recall PCM flashing (which is twice as long as the Mazda 0.3hrs estimate).

However, it looks like the service dept didn't bother following Mazda's recommended procedures as they didn't attach the blue campaign label nor the authorized modifications sticker to the car, nor did they attach a battery charger during the performance of the procedure (I knew b/c I had petroleum jelly on the terminals to prevent corrosion and none of it was removed).

Car drives the exact same as when I drove it in, which is good

PS- the invoice calls this TSB a "recall" for some weird reason & the dealership just found out about this program this morning so I bet I was their first case.
Thats why they hate warranty work, they can only charge whatever Mazda said.

I waited 2.5 hours on my last recall ! those ******** at Great Neck Mazda just do all the oil change and other stupid job first(the easy money job, cuz some lady and guy came b4 me asked whats wrong with their car, the fat *** there told them u need blah blah blah blah blah blah blah ... I was wow ... total bs)

Then finally at the last .5 hour they pull my car in, flash it, and told me to get out. I told them to test it b4, but of no testing, nothing.

The thing with it being labelled an MSP is that it has to be done. Its sort of in between a TSB and A Recall. Its mandated by Mazda so the techs can say "no we wont do it because you dont have symptoms"

they have to do it on all cars that come for service and all of their lot inventory

UNDER THE MAZDA SPECIAL PROGRAM (MSP16), ALL CURRENT DEALER INVENTORY AND
RETAILED VEHICLES FOUND TO BE WITHIN THE ABOVE VIN RANGE, AND PRODUCED
BETWEEN APR. 10, 2003 THROUGH NOV. 9, 2007, MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED
ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN.
When an applicable retail vehicle is brought into the dealer for any type of repair or scheduled maintenance,
perform an eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inspection and check the status of MSP16. If status of MSP16 is “OPEN”
inspect and repair if necessary, the vehicle according to the procedures contained in this service bulletin.
so if you go in they will have to do the MSP16 work. that does mean by by RB flash if you have it and you go in- of course you can refuse the work if you want but they might brand your warrenty

How about this... People either come in to take advantage of the TSB or not. Which one brings in money?

Should'nt the dealership , where you made your purchased give you a call in regards to this matter . To let you know if you need this done ? Last time it needed something done , they schudule an appointment with me .

Well, really good dealerships would, e.g. Rosenthal Mazda in Arlington, VA, but most are behind the TSB learning curve. Just schedule your own and bring a copy of the TSB. As cited it's not a general recall, but a Mazda-required TSB.

I've got an oil change upcoming early next month and will get it done then.

Wow, the flash adresses one of the things that I thought I was crazy about. On cold days my car starts, and I can hear metal grinding on metal like the rotor grinding against the rotor housing. Turns out that is probably exactly what I was hearing. Scary.

So is it worth making a special trip to the dealer for this? I just got my oil changed, so can it wait like 4 months?

My dealer (Rosenthal Mazda-Nissan, Tyson's Corner, VA) does that. They sent me a nice red postcard for 4206f, before Mazda sent me anything. They also sent a red postcard labled "Recall" for MSP13. I expect I'll get the same thing on this MSP.

Sure they want your car to be there, but does not mean they will fix ur car first.

They might look at ur car at the end of the day, to *slip* into the extra 0.3 hour ....

but do they want you to be there? not really

Im still sure that they already have enough *out of warranty customers that they can rip off from* than *in warranty customers which only brings in limited amount of money*

I'm no expert, but my hunch is that yes, you can wait until your next oil change - especially because it's still winter. (I just got my oil changed too, and I'm gonna move my next oil change to 3 months instead of 4 - just as a precaution - to have this done before the weather turns hot.)

I wanted to do that too, if I never have RB flash

If I go in and flash it now, the RB flash would be gone, 300 bux down the hole, and if I want to reflash it with H Version of RB Flash it will cost me anoter 150 bux

Im just gonna premix ... I have no hot start problem anyway

I think that I am still at M. I have no idea how they got all the way to U. I'm assuming that they left a few letters out.

just got the flash.. idle seems muuch smoother.. my start ups are Almost instant.. no more hesitation to start.. which my car "sometimes "did and it seemed to accelerate a bit faster but not much of a big difference.. kinda like how it feels when you at a COLD AIR INTAKE to the 8 not much of a big differnce but its felt.

it says on the receipt that charge .3 hr labor totaling $29.40 cents

but mine was coverred under warranty

I just setup an appointment with the dealer for next tuesday. He said he needed to do some "diagnostics" to check things out first... hmmm...

I will report back on the outcome.
