well at first i thought it was just my bracket, and now i found out that its my entire clutch assembly...so i'll have the answer for you tomorrow afternoon after a meeting with the service dept manager.

these pictures were sent to the mazda regional manger for service or something like that by my local mazda. its looking like this is going to try to be pinned on me but, i think its kind of ridiculous considering my car is under warranty and only has 18000 miles and is all stock :\

Or yours could be the catalyst that makes Mazda sit up and take notice an issue a recall for all of us. Wouldn't that be cool.

I've been around automotive shops since I was in my teens, and I'm 44.I have NEVER seen anything that looks like that. It almost seems as though the transmission was beginning to twist a little.

I am NO expert, however this is what I see.

You probably have a defective clutch assembly, which was warped to begin with. When the tranny and clutch assembly were put together the bolts were over torqued to compensate and over time they have tried to correct the warp and which in turn would twist the transmission.

That's covered. Period. If I were you..I'd basically tell them nicely that you plan on getting a second opinion if it doesn't go your way, and do it.

Good luck.

yeah, there must have been a defect from the start that got gradually worse untill whatever was coming out of place finally snapped out. either way this is definately a materials/manufacturing defect i have an appointment at 3pm tomorrow and im going to give them HELL about this because this should NOT HAPPEN. as much as ive loved mazda RX cars my whole life im going to be beefing it with mazda if they try to tell me this is my fault.

A clutch braket will not cause that problem.

A blown clutch like that will cause undue pressure on the bracket and cause it too fail.

Root cause is in the clutch area or driver.

Oh c'mon Stealthfox, they are only ribbing you a little. Good luck with the car, and let us know what you find out. You may end up helping us all. Why do you think there seems to be such a keen interest in this?

This entire forum is based on other's discoveries, problems, knowledge that has been passed on to help others. Thats why most are so adamant about searching. Rarely does something come up that has not already been discovered, corrected, or someone has taken the initiative to correct. That clutch bracket is a prime example.

Just relax and giggle, it'll do ya good. All is done in good fun.

OUCH JEDI! Make me eat my words why dont ya!

really,

got photos of the pressure plate and clutch fork? as the photo of the bad disk likely would not do what you described. and yes that photo of that clutch disk does have problems.

it is an apples and oranges thing..
