my clutch snapped

i was driving at like 30 miles per hour shifting from second into third and my clutch gave out...i depressed the clutch down and i heard and felt it snap and it stayed on the floorboard. i think the hydraulic system broke...this is really strange ive always thought of this car to be really solid and well made ive never had anything break on it...it felt like my clutch mechanism was made out of plastic

Yea, sadly a common problem. Get it fixed with CRH's or Mazsport's product.

wow. i never even heard of this. anyone know if this is covered under warranty...being the problem is with the hydrualic system and not the actual clutch disc itself(which is only warrantiedd until 12k miles)

SHEESH!!! I guess actually READING people's RESPONSES to your threads is just too difficult.
SO much easier to just keep asking questions.

well by you stating that you were aware of this being a "common issue" you quite possibly may know other important bits that go along with this such as if this will be covered under warranty. thats really what my main concern is and im sure you saying yes or no can't hurt...ive already started a topic and used rx8clubs bandwith.

It's also possible that your clutch completely went out, cause that happened to mine at the same exact time as the clutch pedal wore out. But the pedal is definitely under warranty too, they just ordered one for me.

read thread, that will answer your questions. stop being lazy Stealth.

Answer: no, not covered
more answer: buy CRH pedal. (oh wait, I already said that)
BTW: I have the CRH pedal, it rocks

you can take it in. it's not suppose to break at all. But you'll want to get it welded or swap for the BHR pedal which is welded to assure that it doesn't happen again.

i just hope this doesnt happen to somebody and they get in a bad accident... on that thought, this reminds me to order one of CRH's clutches so the swap is easy

we've started reporting this to the nhtra. (?) link is in NY's thread.
this COULD be very dangerous should it happen at the wrong time.

o **** :O

okay well basically my car is at the dealership now and after reading on this im 99% sure its just my bracket.

however when it happened and i pulled to the side of my road i almost had a heart attack because i thought the hydraulic mechanism went out.

either way if its the clutch pedal bracket or the hydrualic mechanism it should be covered under the warranty because its either material or manufacturing defects. if it is my clutch than thats going to cost me because its a wear item.

im also really astounded that this is a common problem, this is rediculously unsafe in my opinion... i was not white knuckled going 60 into a hairpin while heel toeing into second....i was shifting on a normal road...if i was putting my car under load it could have ended up badly
