MAZDA Mechanics don't seem to know much

Just to state the problem again almost 3 weeks ago my 8 started to make a rattling noise in the Tranny. So I had it towed an hour away to the closest mazda dealer. They decided to change 2nd 3rd 4th 6th and reverse. I figured by them automatically doing that they heard of the problem and knew what it was. Now 2 and 1/2 weeks later after parts get here and no loaner car they say they got it back together and its still is doing the same thing they don't know what is wrong with it. I told them what I thought it was, bearing retainer, and I don't think they even check that. i don't think that they know anything about cars!!!! Anyone else have any problems with mazda dealers seeming to not know what they know about mechanics????

Stuff like that gets frustrating. I doubt I could have stayed calm.

Mazda (and most car) dealers typically don't have Mechanics.

They have Technicians.

Mechanic's work on cars...

Technicians just replace parts.

Yeah I know what you mean about the Technicians/Mechanics but MAZDA said they're "qualified" but I don't believe so I think I know what the prob is and they didn't even check that the first thing they did was change most of the gears. I'm calling tomorrow(Monday) and gonna tell them to check the bearing retainer out first thing! I'm just tired of not even having a loaner car! 3 weeks now and they still don't know what's wrong I think that is a just a bit ridiculous.

Ya know I used to think it was the opposite, but these days I'd tend to agree.

This can also be said
Technicians work on your car till your Warrenty is over.
Mechanics work on your car till you decided to get another one.

We've all talked about what is wrong with the Dealers and why no one goes to them after their warrenty's are over. Its just sad that they (the dealers) dont recongize this and correct it. The amount they charge for labor if they decided to have a high level of workmanship and competence they could be rolling in dough since most would pay for it knowing that the level of the work they will be recieving will be top notch. Till then many of us will just go to a performance shop pay a bit less in labor and get top notch work done.

I am happy with my dealers crew. They fixed and even checked things to be on the safe side.

I will have to say The dealership that I bought my 8 from has a great and knowledgable staff on the RX-8's. But that might be because most of them are 8 owners. Any problem I have had (which is few) thay have helped me out in every way.
