Evaporator is behind the dash, the piece up-front would be the condensor......

Either post in the Classifieds, look for a part-out or call Mazmart for a used one. This is the wrong section for a serious search.

Here's a little bit of a break: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

All things considered though, I would be willing to go used.

Thx EDZRIDE, appreciate the link. I just might look into getting a used one after all.

Did you call Mazmart for a price on a used unit. They are a RX8Club vendor.

You should consider yourself lucky. My Mazda dealer wants $800 for the same 2004 evaporator, and then wants $900 to install it!!!!! I consider that almost unethical, and i'm wondering if this is something any air conditioning shop can do. Is there something strange about the RX-8?
Thanks for anybody's advice.
