Lookin for a flywheel

So my friend has an old Datsun that they are putting back together and they’re possibly looking into using a 6speed trans from an rx8. We have an old transmission from my rx8 they can use to check fitment. Buut they also need to get an old flywheel to test things out with, which we don’t have. Does anybody know of anywhere in the Salt Lake City Utah area that we could find one? None of the junkyards ever have any rx8s. If not and anyone has an old beat up one they have lying around, I’m more than happy to pay to get it over here. Appreciate any help

An old stock flywheel won't do you much good as it has the counterweight built in to balance the rotary. You'll probably want an aftermarket one or one off a Miata (with corresponding clutch components).

well I have one in Texas, but am completely baffled at how the flywheel from a RX8 engine is going to assist fitting the RX8 manual transmission onto a Datsun engine????

You need a clutch disc that will work with the Datsun tranny and/or pressure plate... and then some machine work on the input shaft of the RX8 tranny to fit the bellhousing to the motor motor.... or an adapter that places the input shaft in the correct position.... or both. And likely some throwout bearing that will work with the Datsun system.... or a hydraulic bearing.

Or an adapter from the Datsun bellhousing to the RX8 tranny....

Not simple stuff to do...

Not to mention a new driveshaft and mounts

What are you trying to accomplish?

Tbh I'm still really new to modifying things to the moon, but my friend is definitely not new and competes in rally nationally, I'm sure he knows exactly what he needs it for but I however do not, I'll talk to him tomorrow and get more details on what hes doing..
