So basically you want other people to be impressed by what you're driving? Like wearing a rolex or having a prada bag. Pretty sad dude, cars don't mean **** in the grand scheme of things. You're essentially saying "I can pay X amount a month, look how freaking awesome I am!" I knew a kid back when I was working in college that had a sweet car, tons of mods, everyone loved it. He paid for it all himself, he was proud of it. He lived in a **** hole in a bad part of town and had old wire spools for chairs because he couldn't afford furniture.

People should like you for who you are and what you do, not what you own. My father in law spends most of his free time and money investing in his community and volunteering. I couldn't care less that he drives a Hyundai.

I'm impressed!!!!!!

by the stupidity of this thread.

I would be impressed by a new camaro if the owner could somehow make it feel like i wasn't driving a 4000lb coffin.

Horsepower does not always win races. Some really nice cars are even over powered like the new ZR1 Corvette I test drove. Sure it has a great suspension but the course they laid out made it really hard to drive. You try controlling that much horsepower without slipping the wheels when you down shift through a turn so you can power through the last 1/3rd of it.

A lot of your big block engines are heavy causing the car to dive through the turns. Sometimes backing off on the power (and weight you have to bring with it) can allow you to take a turn faster. Not having to slow down means you can make passes through the corners where its harder to block.

SS Camaro - 3900 lbs V8 6.2L = 420lbs TQ/426 HP 1/4 Mile in 13.1(110mph)
302 BOSS Mustang - 3600 lbs V8 5.0L = 380lbs TQ/440 HP 1/4 Mile in 12.9(111mph)
Charger SRT - 4150 lbs V8 6.4L = 465lbs TQ/465 HP 1/4 Mile in (will only admit to high 12 second times no official word for 2012 yet)

Hmm looks like the SS Camaro is running last in its class. Not only does it boast less horse power with a 1.2L larger engine (meaning less fuel mileage) its slower in the 1/4 mile. Looks like you picked the wrong car. Remember the engine is not the only thing that makes up a car. With less torque but also 300 less lbs of weight the mustang is a faster car than your Camaro. Which with your lack of knowledge on cars anyways I doubt you even run the V8 you probably boast the Camaro V6 model but until you post personal photos (not ones we can google and find which we will do if you cheat) I will reckon your still on the V6.

I am done feeding the troll for now though, let him take his V6 camaro (which is slower than both the charger and the mustang, not to mention incredibly heavy making it slugish and dive a lot in the corners).

Wow rx8r3mike.

So you're a kid from a wealthy family who wants to impress people with his car. OK, that's not so unusual. You might be surprised to find that this actually turns off more people than it impresses, but you'll get that in time.

Go ahead and enjoy the money and nice cars while you can. Really, knock yourself out.

You are going to have some hard times ahead. You are semi-illiterate and seem to barely have enough intelligence to get a degree even by today's lowered college standards. You are going to have serious problems with employment, unless your parents are wealthy and dumb enough to support you for life.

Wow, I'm being harsh. But also kind of honest about what I see. In a lot of ways, I feel sorry for you.

In any case, you really need to walk away from this thread. You seem to have come here to try and impress us all with how you got a "real" car while us poor suckers are still making do with the 8. You haven't impressed anyone (kind of the opposite), and there is no reason for you to be posting here.

on another note, saying you will not be impressed by my camaro is kind of ignorant. as car people i like most sports cars. and if i gave you a ride in my 500HP camaro and you hear the sound and feel the power. you should be impressed. and i would be impressed with your 9k+ red line, and the handling of the car. thats goes with any other sports car. i would be impressed by a STI 0-60 times etc. but "most" /average thinking people do not understand whats so cool about the rx8. all they see is 1.3L 159TQ/ 232HP 0-60 times/1/4 mile. and the thats were the camaro shines. and why more people are impressed by my car over yours. i am not saying my car is better, but only that the average person would like it better. thats all
hmm, you are really sad, you need a car to "impress someone/get laid" wow ...

I love my RX8 and it has not had any problems yet. However, if it does start having issues, it is not my fault, I do all the bs to keep it running great. (Premix, Check the oil levels weekly, Added a great air filter) and yet a car should need that much TLC. I think those of you turning the engine problem around on the driver have been brain washed by Mazda using reverse marketing schemes. I talk to engineers at the Mazda dealership and when I give them my VIN and they see it has not had any problems @ 37K miles, they look amazed, which is sad. It makes me think that the RX8 has had so many problems, that the engineers @ Mazda are shocked when they see one with over 30K miles without a mark on its record, this is truly sad. Mazda had done us a great favor by extending the Warranty on the car. However, the engine needs major improvements.
There are many Rx-8 without single problem. these engines are hand build so the quality is really a hit or miss. especially their clearance for this engine, they really **** things up.

ok, again, I've seen and ride in cars that cost couple times more than yours. impressed what??

you really need to grow the **** up. don't u feel ashame that you're wasting your parents hard earned money to try to "impress" someone else ? wow.

If they are hand made, that would make sense to why so many engines fail. I agree, I do not think many RX8's fail, and the ones that do, it could be driver error, like not paying attention to oil levels. This car eats up oil like no car ive seen, so I do believe many owners are not educated to that and run the engines on low oil levels. I think this is the main cause of the failures. Again, I love my RX8, it is the funnest car I have ever owned, and it has room for my little one in the back. I chose to buy a used 2007 GT loaded RX8 over a brand new 2011 Camaro RS.

^Who's to say a car doesn't need "TLC"? It's just preventative maintenance. If keeping up with the oil level and such is too much to ask, tell me.. When hybrids came out, what was the deal with the batteries? Trying to find ways to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly fashion, since they were different.

But ultimately... That's just uncalled for, right? A car shouldn't have problems disposing of it's batteries like that.

See where I'm coming from? It's not asking too much, it's just asking that you monitor you car, and take care of it. Ultimately, if you find popping the hood to do that as asking too much, or too much TLC to complain about, then maybe you should re-evaluate yourself as an owner of the car, because ANY car needs it's maintenance and looking after.

And as far as problems? Again, I know plenty of other cars that religiously have more problems than our Rx8's. Mine's always been a problem-free car, still is, knock on wood.

Anywho...

I will admit, I want people to notice what I drive myself. I like it personally when people are impressed with my car, not by how I own it, as it's cheaper than quite a few family cars out there, but just ultimately, I like when I watch heads turn. In the end, it's my perception of the car that matters, and is the reason I have a smile on my face while I drive, but as with any car enthusiast, I still like it when people compliment my car.

But there's nothing wrong with wanting people to like your car. But I will say, let your opinion be the only one to really matter.

Oh, and to go back to at first, don't be shocked at what "impresses" people. I took my old 88 Mx6 to a dealership once, and they were impressed that the Mx6 was made prior to 93, because they'd never even heard about or seen one.

Actually, I almost bought one a year ago with about 200,000mi, that didn't have any problems other than a CEL for a solenoid in the evap. emissions going bad, no engine problems, still was in spec for compression, albeit on the lower side, but...

My KL V6 at 185k mi, less than 200,000, is in worse shape.
Juuuuust throwing it out there, that while they didn't manufacture these engines the best, they're not all faulty, and there's plenty out there that's worse.

Rotary engines are always hand build. simply because some of the process is not possible without a human.

Even brand new engines from Japan has failed. again, its a hit or miss.

as for "burning oil", honestly, I drive like mad most of the time and I use about 1 quart of oil every hmm maybe 1 to 1.2 K mile. that's not so bad I guess ? of course its more than any piston engines I've owned/driven. but hey its really not that bad.

but yeah there are idiots out there who never even change their oil (one of my friend is one), then when **** breaks they blame the car.

I chose to buy a used 2007 GT loaded RX8 over a brand new 2011 Camaro RS.
WHAT!? HOW COULD U DO THAT ! a "REAL SPORT CAR" over a "torqueless wonder" !!!! ????

DON'T YOU NEED TO IMPRESS SOMEONE JUST LIKE r3mike ?!?!?!?!?!

Agreed, Ive never been a car enthusiast, but having to watch and care for my car hhas made me appreciate my car even more, I work at a Hospital and many of my coworkers drive Benz, BMW's, Porshe, and Audi's, and these people turn their head when they see my RX8 which probably costed half as much as any of their cars...woot

I test drove the Camaro RS, its suspension it terrible, I hit a small bump in the parking lot and the whole car felt as if I hit a large dog, not that i run over dogs, but it was like driving a fast tank.

Yeah, where as I've always been a car enthusiast, and sadly, out of every car I've owned, the Rx8's been the least maintenance and the most dependable, to an extreme degree.

But yeah, it's just so unique over other cars on the market. It's especially funny when you're beside a Corvette, Audi, or something, and more people are looking at you.

lol this thread is stupid. i never actually took the time to read it all nor shall i will. from the gist of it, apparently miatas are gay cars. that's a stereotype. second of all, the rx8 has the perfect frame to engine swap with an fd. problem solved. if you're seriously that much in love with hp to disown your original rx8 to purchase a new car, then financials shouldn't be a problem for engine swap. i love my 2010 rx8 r3 and i get comments on it everyday. not to mention driving it everyday is a blast. for a new car, i really have to force myself to not 'drift' in it or do any other form of harsh driving because i know i'm inexperienced but for the way it looks and for the way it handles, it's hard resisting

Which with your lack of knowledge on cars anyways I doubt you even run the V8 you probably boast the Camaro V6 model but until you post personal photos (not ones we can google and find which we will do if you cheat) I will reckon your still on the V6.

I am done feeding the troll for now though, let him take his V6 camaro (which is slower than both the charger and the mustang, not to mention incredibly heavy making it slugish and dive a lot in the corners).
back in 2009 the SS was the car to get..... there is always going to be something faster and better. anyways my car is modded and faster than a stock 5.0L and challenger.

heres my youtube channel. check the car out . send me a message if you want. to prove. i would loved to see you find those pics on google. the only way you will find them is if you find the thread i started on my camaro forums under my name. http://www.youtube.com/user/360mmspider?feature=mhee and if you look in my channel comments somebody once said "nice rx8" so i had a rx8 on there one time also. i will even put a comment in my own channel saying rx8r3mike.
