in terms on performance the rx8`s best thing is light weight handling. but in american who really cares that much about handling . most people here have never been to a real track. and on the roads its all about how fast you can go in a straight line. we are not in a fast and furious movie. where they are racing through towns and taking turns on streets going that fast.

the rx8 was a thing of the past, but now there are better cars out.
because Rotary is "special", and special stuff gets all the attention all the time, good or bad. like how people say "Rotary blows up every 60K miles", is that true really? this is the kind of special attention we get all the time.

if reviews don't matter then why you even bother to "watch" them ?

Rx8 is not light weight in any means, compare to other cars Rx-8 is somewhere in the middle. the handling comes from a great chassis and suspension setup. something most muscle car lacks.

newer and better car comes out every single year. so all of the older cars "automatically" becomes a thing of the past and suck. oh yeah.

this car is not for you then, its time to sell it and go back to "American muscle" that handles like crap(most of the time).

i have a 2010 camaro SS with well over 500HP in my garage right now. on another note the mustang 5.0L can handle
and go fast.

you know in Japan they called American car "stupid" simply because they turn like a truck and brake fades so fast cuz you have to brake every 2 seconds.
maybe you should move there ? what do they have to say about the mustang boss? trust me american is coming back.

So am I. just stating facts.

Was at AutoX this past Saturday, one of their "best driver" actually drives an RX-8, he wasn't driving that day cuz he is doing volunteer work. he drove my car once tho and I almost **** in my pants.

thats where the rx8 belongs.

before you say "maybe all other cars are slow", there is a GT3 there. Slow ?
GT3 can handle and go fast. thats why its cost what it cost.

Do you live in Kansas or something?

I live in hill country and I take fast turns every time I drive. There's a certain 90 degree uphill turn on my daily commute that I'll go sideways in when traffic is clear and the weather is right. There's a certain S-shaped exit on my way home that I call "The Hammerhead," it has a recommended speed of 20mph and I do it at better than 60 in the right conditions; the transition makes the rear seat belt buckles fly out and smack the doors.

Americans can enjoy balanced handling and take fast turns. Some of us, anyway.

I am just fed up with threads like this. If you are honestly JUST realizing the "lack of power" "cost " "mileage" then honestly, GTFO. You are stupid and should be ashamed of the fact that someone gave you the god damn responsibility to purchase a car. Next time you are in line to make a big decision, please go and hand the money to someone else to make hte decision for you. Did you even bother test driving the car? Did you read any sort of review on the car? Come the F**k on people. Seriously sick of this ****.

Next you idiots are going to move into a home and then 5 days later bitch about how the floors creak and their is a stench coming from the basement.

"I am just realizing how horrible" ... JUST??? ISNT THAT A LITTLE TOO GOD DAMN LATE. Congrats sir, you are a f**king moron.

i agree its pretty smooth engine. i like the rx8 i owned one for a year and a half. but i wanted something with some *****. and stopped caring about handling when everyone in american drag races and all we have is wide open roads, this isn't japan.

i am not a troll, i am only stating facts. and i love the rx8 not for performance, but for being different than the rest and the car looks very sexy. but in terms performances it lacks. ok its impressive for a 1.3L, but how long are you going to keep saying that?
Over the last weeks i read your posts and i was thinking that you were kinda stupid.. but after reading this thread its clear you are a troll. Just so you know the sti has a 2.5L not 2.0L. It also has a TURBO and thats why it makes way more power and torque. And also rotary engines have a lot of torque for their displacement. I know you are retarded and dont know what that means so it means torque depends on engine size. make a bigger rotary if you want more torque.

well i know for a fact the evo has a 2.0L with around 300 HP/TQ. trust me i know how engines work. just trying to make a point that a piston engine can be small and make power. 2.0L is pretty dam small. and yes the turbo makes up for it. but they are not about to make a car that lacks power so the turbo was the right way to go. everything i said is a fact. most people in america want power. and "decent" handling. thats why rx8s sales are very bad in the us right now. nothing to do with gas prices. they sold way more 370z, STIs , mustangs and camaros over rx8s in the past 2 years. in american. how is that being a troll ?

I love how you keep saying "in american." Also, maybe you need to look at sales numbers for the Miata "in american."

wanna race ? yes it will be in a straight line because that how most people here race.
I have no intention to go all the way to Michigan just to proof someone can't drive for ****. we all know you can't drive and blame it on hp, we get it.

i have a 2010 camaro SS with well over 500HP in my garage right now. on another note the mustang 5.0L can handle
and go fast.
sadly, AutoX/Race track said something different.

maybe you should move there ? what do they have to say about the mustang boss? trust me american is coming back.
Boss is a nice trim I gotta say, American is coming back huh ... damn took them how many f-king years to get "back" again? not to mention Just a GT-R alone can pretty much go on par if not faster than the car you said. oh yeah.

thats where the rx8 belongs.
yeah, the guy in Rx8 running on par with cars like GT3. Yep, thats where it belongs, oh wait, where is your Camaro/Mustang again? nevermind !

well i know for a fact the evo has a 2.0L with around 300 HP/TQ. trust me i know how engines work. just trying to make a point that a piston engine can be small and make power. 2.0L is pretty dam small. and yes the turbo makes up for it. but they are not about to make a car that lacks power so the turbo was the right way to go. everything i said is a fact. most people in america want power. and "decent" handling. thats why rx8s sales are very bad in the us right now. nothing to do with gas prices. they sold way more 370z, STIs , mustangs and camaros over rx8s in the past 2 years. in american. how is that being a troll ?
wrong again, people don't buy Rx-8 because Rotary had a really bad reputation from FD. its not even Rotary's fault, simply because idiots love to "up the boost" without any aid. when things **** up, they blame the car and spread bullshit all over the place. and people love to listen to bullshit and pass them down for generations.

I know most people in America want power, there is a reason why garbage crap like Nascar exist and only in America.

piston engine can be small and make power --- it has a lot to do with its original design. since you said "you know how engines work", you should know that you can't just expect any 2.0L engine to make 300 hp without blowing things up. Again, its the design.

13B has been in place for 20 something 30 years. original 13B made 100 hp, now its 232 hp. without any increase in displacement + 70-80% of the parts are the same, how many 2.0L engine can do this?

Actually, NOT everyone in America drag races. I, for one, don't. Therefore I buy a car that is suited to WHAT I DO.

Do you have a problem with that ^ statement? Go ahead. Prove how much of a bigoted moron you are.

Soo...you don't even own an RX-8 any more. I'm just going to start reporting all of your posts as harassing spam. You don't belong here, go to where you can get some other ham fisted muscle head to stroke your ego.

Man, you are so ignorant. Are you 16 or something? It gets way more track time than any other car you've mentioned.

While I'm at it...you want a Miata comparison on Youtube?

How about to a Viper. That is up your alley, and admittedly FAR higher priced /classed than the cars you are touting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtzMaCoq2_4

And before you start pointing out the Viper's obvious horsepower....Notice the Viper's owner is choosing to go to a track THAT ISN'T A DRAG STRIP.

So, again, not everyone drag races. Even the big block engines.

what are you talking about, that Viper owner is gay cuz he failed one of the following :

- high hp "American" muscle car
- he does not go drag strip

yea he is gay.

Viper is sooo much cooler with a truck engine in there ... oh wait did I just said "truck" engine ?

of course not every single person thinks like that. but more people do. hits why they sell more cars that are faster than a rx8.

i am not a troll or spamming. i am trying to have a debate with people. thats all i am not being mean, i am not calling out anyone. its peace full debate.

rx8r3mike, you are clearly a kid, go back to talking about cars with your teenage friends and stop trying to talk about cars with grown-ups.

Actually, no, you aren't having a "debate".

What you are actually doing is attempting to tell people that they don't have any reason to love what they love, when the simple fact is, you can't change it, and it's only going to get people angry at you by trying.

You can't seem to accept that there are reasons that OTHER people do things other than pure numbers.

If you CAN accept it, then you have to retract nearly every post you have made in this thread.

No one here is saying that the RX-8 doesn't have lower horsepower or lower top speed than your Camero. No one is saying the RX-8 is anything but what it is.

You are the one trying to say that it isn't what it is, and trying to beat into the ground what it isn't. DUH it isn't a drag racing car. None of us bought it for that.

Stop trying to get us to sell what we love and buy something we don't. If you enjoy your car, good for you, that's all that matters for you. Let us enjoy what we enjoy in peace.

Viper? nope.

seriously, nope.

I rather buy a Miata.

I know that makes me "gay" automatically, I rather be "gay" than driving a car that has a truck engine and handles like a truck.

best cars to come out of America ... wow you did not say that, its one of the WORST car ever from America.

if you put a gun to my head to make me pick between a Geo Metro or Viper. I rather u just shoot me or I will pick Geo Metro.

after 4 years of loving my 8, when i decided to get another car to enjoy, i got a car with FAR LESS power than the 8, a Miata.

What does that tell you about how much I value horsepower?
