lol, funny how this went from bad rotary reliability to slowness.

Yes, the car isn't as fast as others in the price range, that's the nature of a 2-rotor n/a rotary, if it bothers you that much then spend a few grand for FI so you can get your 100 whp boost, or another car?

Anything you else you want to complain about? Is the car too ugly for you?

I don't think people are arguing that the RX 8 is a better performing car than the S2000. It's been debated dozens of times here and most have come to accept that the S2000 is a faster, better handling car. Magazine tests and people who have driven both cars can attest to thi. But you have taken the difference between the two cars to a whole new level, and for many you are sounding like a total fanboy.

Oh and posting ignorant **** like this will not win you any debates.

The Ariel Atom beats them both while burning much less gas, the Range Rover is very slow while burning much more, what's your point? I'm not arguing fast cars burn a lot of gas, I'm saying there's no correlation.

Can you say that the RX8 first gear is a fast gear?

By the time you hit that redline the other cars are gone and i am not refering to racing, i am saying if ineed instant power to get to another lane, i dont have it in this car.
At 60mph, 3rd gear puts the car right into the midst of the powerband. Bury your foot in the carpet then, and you'll have all the pickup you need to deal with passing freeway traffic, and the car will continue pulling more and more strongly until it redlines at 94 mph. If you haven't left other traffic behind by then, you may have wandered onto the Autobahn.

The RX-8 isn't the fastest thing around but it's quicker than a lot of other cars you'll come across. Why don't you learn how to drive your car before you bitch about it?

Merry Christmas.

if you are seriously having trouble passing people, you must be driving an automatic, or have no idea how to drive, or the traffic around you must be Italian

Yeah, I'm not sure what 06RX8 is really talking about. To be honest, I've driven a friends C5, yes, it's fast. He's a friend at college, he sold his Corvette and bought a Miata and says he loves my car.

But anyway, I think I got a good 8, because whenever I put it to the floor to redline the first gear, I am pinned to the seat. When I shift and let it go through second, I'm still not moving in the seat. I mentioned the C5 so I could say I have had something to compare it to. The C5 was definitely faster and had a bigger "pin", but I am pleased with the performance of this car, and I love it. I chose it for what it was. The rotary engine, the 9k redline, the amazing interior. The next thing I'm getting for it will probably be a flywheel. That can even wait for a while.

Otherwise, I agree, the renesis is made to rev.

Go Habs go!

Well S2000s are known for eating oil.

MPG can vary between AP1 and AP2. I have a 2003 S2000 and it sucks on gas like crazy...Thing is though I do 100% city driving and I redline the $hit out of it every chance I get:D

I have to add a little oil every 3-4 weeks. I really don't care, any car piston engine that revs so high will nedd oil. What's a few bucks a month to be able to hear the music at 8900RPM just before I shift?

I don't know about lightweight bike engines though!

Yeah go habs go, they rock this year!

I can't believe how much negativity goes on on these boards. Seems like you RX-8 owners always have to defend yourselves. Just ignore the ignorant haters.

The only thing I dislike about the RX-8 is the quality of the seat's leather hehe

I mean it's really the only of the few lightweight RWD 4 seater sports cars under 30k. And even the more expensive cars are less engaging to drive.

I'm not gonna lie, I must have her at Redline at least 10 times a day, once she's warmed of of course. It's very addicting! Well I got over 38,000 miles and I swear she gets faster every day, so I've concluded that the RX-8 was made to spend most of its life around 9 grand.

Yes, first gear is fast. I use it all the time. From a stop, I've never seen another car pass me. Most cars are much, much slower than the RX8 and that is reality.

I also do not have a problem getting instant power to change lanes.

Just jumping in on this um, er, thread, I guess . . . good stuff.

So I'll start here:

I didn't really see any instances of someone arguing that the 8 is the fastest car on the road. Just arguments that it is, in fact, faster than most other vehicles on the road. If you can't smoke the cars you list here off the line - you don't know how to drive worth ****. If you are that concerned with beating cars off the line, you got the wrong car.

But I think there is strong evidence to support the real argument here: that you are an idiot.
The evidence: 1. You cite how much you love the handling, then bitch about the handling. 2. You think the 8 will be "smoked" by at least a few cars that actually will not smoke it. 3. You think the members here (who just happen to be 8 owners, go figure) are somehow uninformed about the vehicle they chose to buy. 4. You bought - not one but TWO vehicles that you did NOT research and ended up unhappy with. I could list more, but as I typed this last one I realized that #4 really says it all.

Agree with Wilson 100%. Post the VIN, so we all know to stay away from the car you don't take care of.

My RX-8 may not be the fastest thing on the road, but it is more than fast enough. As long as the women keep asking what it is and wanting to go for a ride in it, I will consider it money well spent.

Here at Idiotfinder.com, we submit subjects to a range of tests and observations derrived from the AFQT, ASVAB, SAT, GMAT, GRE, and GED based tests mixed with IQ and common sens tests in order to determine if your next: brother/sister-in-law, step-mother/father, employee/employer, dive-buddy, etc. are INFACT, IDIOTS.

Don't be fooled by imitators!

We at Idiotfinder.com follow and stalk our subjects around for weeks to confirm that they are INFACT, boarderline RETARDED or suffer a debilitating mental or learning disorder.

IDIOTS should be identified and kept away from productive society. Call now and we'll double your order to two Idiot confirmations and we'll throw in this handy Bitch-Slap Glove! Don't bust a kuckle backhanding idiots again, with the Bitch-Slap Glove you can easily and comfortably bitch-slap idiots to keep the foul garbage from spewing from their teeny, tiny, brains...

Here at Idiotfinder.com, we find IDIOTS.

Quit bithing about, well Everything, you seem to be determined to spew idiocies thourghout this forum and tell 8 owners as well as rotary car owners in general they do not know their cars. You also seem to be a Honda fanboi and cannot get past the point that you now have a car that actually takes some skill to drive unlike H cars, so maybe driving lessons would help. Also so the F#$K what if it does not get great gas mileage, it still is not that bad compared to a lot of cars out there hell in fact it is great compared to my FX 45.

Finally in closing maybe you need to get out of your lease or at least leave these forums if you hate the car so much, I am sure no one here would miss you.
