I'm back!

Just picked up my new fully loaded 04 black last night and it already feels great to be back in the club!

Just a few things I need to do to be satisfied. First things first though is to get rid of that darn CAI. I need to find me a stock air box.

I'll post pics soon!

Oh, in case you were wondering, I had an 04 Nordic green. Spun out on the highway and ran backwards into a Jersey barrier. Totalled it. I've been driving a mini since and it's about to kick the bucket.

Congratulation :D
Whats the reason for getting rid of that darn CAI? Im using the stock box with a KN flat filter, is there a big sound difference? Or just for a cleaner oem look?

It's the sound of horses running away from the engine and taking idle stability and OBD2 compliance with them.

Stock intake is better in every way.

I like the smooth *whirrrrrr* of the rotary. I don't need all that drama! I trust that Mazda knew what to do with the stock intake!

Also I think it's hurting my gas mileage. I went from slightly above half tank to slightly below within less than 30 miles. I don't remember my previous 8 being this bad.

Yup, it will do that too. There are other viable reasons, but the intake is an easy culprit at the moment. Fuel trims will be all over the place because of the instability of the airflow across the MAF.

When I get the stock intake on there I'll do the battery disconnect thing to reset that. And the stomp the break a bunch of times thing for good measure.

All done. Took about an hour to swap the two. He's happy, I'm happy. Good deal.
