mine is a 04 and as of today hit 65k, runs amazing. ive gone thru 3 sets of coils and i run fd plugs for more low end tq. i still get over 19mpg with no cat in town. i tend to put 3k a month on the car, ive had a yr and half now
my buddy in tennessee has an 04 turbo 8 original motor has had the turbo for four years running 10psi and has i **** you not 250,000 miles on it never messed up once and still runs strong today

I hit 73304.00 before the dreaded compression test (car would not start). Dealership told me new engine needed as well at catalyptic converter. Thankfully both covered under warranty. Hope to get another 73K.

Seems to be doing ok although I am concerned about some vibration while idling. It gets much worse if I am running the A/C. So far I have had no major mechanical malfunctions - but I always keep my fingers crossed while driving.

I just picked up my 2005 last month and I was in the mazda dealership near me checking to see what recalls have been done to my car, the service guy told me they just had an 8 come in with 300,000 KMS ( about 180,000 Miles) he said the engine lasted until then when it finally had to be replaced..and apparently mazda replaced it under warrenty because it was under the 8 year period..even though it was over 160,000 K he said he wasnt sure why mazda warrantied it..to be honest I dont really believe him but Im not sure what the point of him lying would be lol
Sounds like the same story I heard about from my brothers' friends' uncle , who knew a guy that got similar results .
Tigger on here, the guy i got my snow tires from hit 200k on his original motor. Right after the engine went on him and it was his daily driver. I think he got 200,005 miles on it. He said in the winter a cooling fan went on he thinks it overheated on him, if it weren't for that he might have got more.

I have an 05 GT MT6 that made it 67K miles before the engine got replaced under warranty (loss of power and hot start issue). I've only put 1K miles on it since then but there is definitely a noticeable increase in power with the new engine (not huge but noticeable). My car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!
