Question Hardwiring a radar detector and lights

I am planning to hardwire my RX-8 with a radar detector and footwell lights. I want to install more cigarette lighter outputs in a more discrete place like under the dash, so i guess its not exactly hardwiring but you get the point. I need four outputs two for lights and a jammer and detecter. Anyone do this? I need some advice. I have no idea how to do this and don't know much about wiring so keep it simple please.

Wiring....

For the foot lights, just tap into a fuse in the drivers footwell, and for the radar, the best placement is high, for early warning. Between the mirror and the roof is excellent.

You can tap the 12 volt power at the mirror power supply, in the overhead console. There is also a good bolt to ground to in there.

....and the Rocky Mountain Jammer - sell that P.O.S. to someone more gullible, they don't work.

Lots of detailed information on this subject in the Do it Yourself subforum under the Tech Garage. There is a great thread on hardwiring the detector which should tell you everything you need to know. Read that and then come back with specific questions.

If you click on the rx8club.com right above your first post up top it takes you to the main page. That's where you'll find all the different sub-forums. Good Luck!

You mention tapping into the fuse box at at the driver's feet. How do I do that? If you have some pictures that would be great.
Thanks everyone

V - I'd be interesteed in seeing what that bracket is like. I suction-cup my escort solo to the windshield so is just barely visible below the lower edge of the mirror.

Thanks for the link. Those look interesting. I don't know if it is any improvement over my current setup, but I'll have to think about it.
