fan staying on after shut down?

today i took my aunts car to get some food. when i came home and turned it off the fan stayed on. i figured it was part of the design so i went inside and ate. i came out about 15 minutes later and it was still on. i was able to turn it off by turning the key to the ON position.

has this happened to anyone else? would the fan have just kept running until it drained the battery or would it eventually turn off?

Is this the first car you have ever owned?

Welcome to the cult.
Its just fine for your fan to stay on after you turn your car off. When you go to the gym you need 10min to cool off well this is how the car keeps cool and with the 8 it will run a lot seeing that it gets hot under that hood. Just let it do its thing ...

Yes, that's normal.. it gets pretty hot on short trips even. Suprised me the first time too.
No worries about the battery.

I thought mine was weird because it hasn't stayed on even after a long trip when I shut the engine off. When I test drove another one the fan was running when i shut it off. The one I bought has yet to do that. Just got back from a 100+ return and no fan after shutoff. I also felt down the sides of the center console while driving and it wasn't warm at all. i thought I had read on here that it gets pretty warm to the touch.
