I know that they're available for the car. I should've been more clear the first time, I'm looking for reviews of 8 owners that have them

If you're just going for looks then buy them if you want, if you're going for suspension performance then don't waste your money.

Correct, you don't have to remove the exhaust shrouds to remove/install the exhaust, but it takes some extra playing with to get it to fit right.

I wouldn't bother removing the other side.

I've driven a few types of cars with BCs on them. They're not great, but acceptable for lowering the car for street driving and even light autocross. But they're not a serious performance set-up. I would do more research on where all the different brands are made, etc.

If you looking for a cheap lowering solution with better shocks, I'd look at pairing some Koni yellows with a lowering spring with your own spring rates.

Well I'm able to get a great deal on a new set of BC's. Theres other brands that the place I'm getting them from has. I'll list them all that will be with in my price range and see which is best. Although, from what you describe they're best for is perfect for my needs. My 8 is my daily driver so I wouldnt need anything seriously race inspired. But I also want to have something good enough for a little racing. By little I mean like an autocross once every few months. I doubt I'll be able to do any track events

My turn for a question:

A few days ago, I started up the car at work. Cold start. Parents called, talked to them, left after the car idled for about.. 4 minutes.. I then went to the grocery store near there.. about.. 2 minute drive... let the car idle in the grocery store for about 5 min I was in there, and then went to get gas.. by the time I got out of the grocery store, it was at operating temp (needle in middle). I went to get gas at a gas station that was less than a minute from the grocery store.

My question, however, is at the grocery store, the car would not start. I did the "de-choking" procedure to start a flooded engine and after a sec it sputtered to life, but was this a flooded engine? I didn't think the engine could flood when warm... I've never had that happen except that one time.. and when I got home I stopped the car, waited a little bit.. about a minute.. and tried starting it again and it fired right up (was afraid it could be a low compression situation)... so idk.. am I just overly worried?

This ^^^^ and the car was not flooded.

It would help if you told the year and model of your car as well
Along with items such as the Mileage, last time plugs, wires, and coils were change.
Modifications.

2005 6speed manual base model. 80k miles. Plugs changed at 62k miles, coils I'm unsure of. I did just buy new plugs, wires, and coils which should be at my house Monday. No performance mods but I do have xcarlink. If the weather is nice tomorrow ill pull the coils and check them

Ok well .. I was going to suggest not going and spending a bunch of money first but seeing as you have .. no worries
At 80k Miles you likely need the coils if they have never been changed, only a few have dragged a set of coils out that long.

While you are in there digging around clean the Maf sensor as well.
Things to note, while there is no "this coil must go in this position to replace this coil" the spark plug wire configuration absolutely matters as so does which spark plug goes where .. make sure u get it right.

Only the Lead coils fire during startup so if you had a failing coil, wire, plug on a Leading position it could cause a hard start and lose of power.

Another thing you can do because its cheap and easy is some Seafoam.
Hardest thing about this stuff is finding a place to do it ... the smoke that comes out of the exhaust is really really really really REALLY EPIC

Thanks for the throttle body tip. I'll also grab some seafoam today since I plan on doing some highway driving. Also as a note I've been since I got this car about 3k miles ago running marvel's mystery oil every other fill up and I fill up at 1/2 tank. I don't think, though, that I have a loss of power... It pulls hard and definitely feels powerful all the way to 9k rpm.

Here's a DIY on how to do the Seafoam, don't just dump it in the gas tank.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-mazda-zoom-power-engine-cleaner-engine-cleaning-seaform-142852/

Just sub the mazda zoom cleaner for seafoam and you're good to go! As wcs said though, there will be smoke a'plenty so do it somewhere where you won't get in trouble for such things.

My turn for a dumb question:

So what makes some of those rx8's sound like those turbo'd rx7's like the really loud exhaust that sounds like a drag car even at idle. Did I just answer my own question? Do they sound like that because an engine swap was done? What is the term for the exhaust noise "rawr rawr rawr" lol (I'm an idiot)

They just change the exhaust. IMHO, the term for a loud exhaust is "immature owner."

RX-8's can't sound like that with the stock motor.

RX-7's on the other hand, you can port them. The "brap brap brap" type idle is from Bridge Porting, J-Porting or Monster Porting. Google those and read up, you'll see.

The reason an RX-8 won't ever sound like that is because bridge porting is nearly impossible because of the clearances inside the engine You can still do a street port on them but you won't get that sound. There have been a few that have done bridge ports on RX-8's but not any with great success that I know of.

LOL
I'll help a follow brother that's had too many beerauzzzZZzzshh

ESS monitors the eccentric shaft position with a magnetic pickup sensor.

It's ... well monitors the shaft position, the information goes the ECU to determine ignition timing (in a nutshell)
A dirty ESS can cause a Misfire, or just the misfire code, poor idle and stalling after a off throttle condition

thanks WCS, I do think its a dirty pickup senser thats causing a slight idle issue. no codes, motor mounts are fine, and every thing else has been addressed. its still a baby for being an 04 with 35000 on the o.d. Ill check it tomorrow.

anyways, Im much sober today. lol. later bro.......

If the RX8 was the upgrade to the RX7, why didn't Mazda put a 3 rotor on it or turbo and supercharge the renesis. I haven't seen any other successors that were slower than their predecessors. Still love the 8 though.

It isn't the upgrade to the RX-7. Never was. It was simply another rotary model that targeted a different audience. Saying "the RX-8 is the upgrade to the RX-7" is exactly like saying "the Corvette is the upgrade to the Camero".

Um...Hardly.

As for why they didn't go FI or 3-rotor?

Emissions:
They already had plenty of trouble getting the Renesis to pass emissions as it was. And it hasn't been for sale in Europe for a year or two because the tightening restrictions stopped the sale of the 8. A 3 rotor could not possibly pass emissions. FI almost certainly couldn't.

Fuel Mileage:
People complain about the 8's 16c 22h mileage. How well do you think it would sell if it had 6c and 12h mileage? Look up the 3-rotor guys on the forum. One mentioned that he was lucky to get 3mpg. No typo. Three.

Price:
If they had put FI on it, even a factory low boost "reliable" setup, it would have priced it into another higher bracket. And they would have been losing engines FAR FAR FAR FAR faster. Warranty nightmare. We never would have gotten the 100k extension on our factory engine warranty.

People love to talk about high powered cars, or exotic factory changes. The reality is, they wouldn't sell. YOU wouldn't be buying one. Cars on posters in people's bedrooms and desktops don't make the manufacturer a lick of money. The cars need to sell to keep the rotary alive.

This question can only be answered when you define what the word "better" means to you.

For many people, this is like asking: "Which is better, rotten meat or rotten fruit?"

Well my question leads into this: how much can you get a remote mount turbo system. I've seen rotor rocks work and he did a great job and kept the price low.

I tried searching ( I really did ) can not find out about my clutch pedal cover

popping off ?

this just happened today and other than getting the cover out from under my feet I have not even looked ( other than searching here and on Google ). Does the cover just slip on or is this something I need to take to the dealer?

Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated!
