Dumb Dealer! In Maine

Got Into An Argument With The Dealership Yesterday They Said My Car Required Motocraft 5-20 Synthetic Blended Oil. I Told Them No! They Fought Me Then They Said Well 5-20 Isn't Made In Conventional Oil. I Said You Better Call Castrol And Let Them Know Because I Just Bought Some Gtx Yesterday! Then They Looked In Their Service Manual And Saw That The Motocraft Was Completely Different Api Standard Than What The 8 Calls For They Just Looked Shocked. They Have Been PuttiNg The Wrong Oil In The 8's They Have Been Servicing. Whats Even More Scary Is They Are The Only Certified Mazdaspeed Dealer In Maine. So They Say!

Make sure you document there F up. Have them put it in writing on a service record. You never now what may happen down the road.

The dealer partnered with bank of america to offer free life time powertrain warrantys on all new cars. only catch is you must do all of the manufacturers scheduled maintenance and document it. You can do it yourself or anywhere just keep receipts. which is ok the 8 doesn't require too much!

only certified dealer huh.

Call us, we are one of Maines largest mazda dealerships 207-990-1200

Edit:

I used royal purple 5w30 for a long time in my rx8 never caused any problems, its basically a opinon that varies from owner to owner.

I switched to gtx because its cheaper, and i change my oil alot more now that im turbo'd

This isnt a mazda warranty, its an inhouse reinsurance plan.

If you ever break down the dealer who offers it has to approve all the work. OR better yet its null if the work isnt done there.

So basically if you move your screwed unless you drive back there.

this is true... they are the only ones that are crazy enough to do it.. The buy in is rediculous, and basically all you get are 2 models. that are lowww volume in maine.

AND your not exclusive to selling the parts. We arent mazdaspeed and i get the parts.

Theres a reason we arent, believe me ive wanted to forever but its not financially feasable in this state.

This guy put the call out, and Varney answered.

I see no reason to go anywhere else. Looks like Varney is your new best friend.

I ran into the same problem when I took my car in for it's first scheduled maintenance. "Mazda only uses Synthetic oil for oil changes." I told them to go read my manual. About 30 minutes later I got an appology from the lead mechanic and said that he would never put synthetic into an 8.

im not saying we know much more, sad to say mazda is a tiny market up here.. The growth is happening but its never going to be huge like it is south of us. we just dont have the people.

Id love to see our mazda dealership put 100 new out a month. It could happen and if i was a little older i would run that store. but unfortunately im young and bounce all over the place from all the other business's we own.

Someday though i want people to know us as the Mazda Beast up in the Northeast

I could be mistaken, but I think I read that all 5W-20 is partly synthetic. If that's true, maybe that's why there's some confusion.
