Do i just suck it up

I have a rx 8 ordered for january and i just cant wait to get it.I generally change my car every year and i also have a car for my weekday work so i generally do very little mileage on my good car(5000 per year). My question is do i really have to wait 'till i have 600 miles on the clock before i can rev freely to the topend or is this run in period totally necessary? If it is necessary would it be a good idea to go away for that first weekend on a nice long trip and put up most of the 600 miles ?
Thanks in advance

I think you answered your own question.... and yes ,I think sucking it up and having to wait would make the first drive in your new car more enjoyable.

^ :muffled laughter:

id say waiting 600 miles for a possibility of a problem-free car is not much of a sacrifice ...

Huh? If you are only gonna put 5000 miles on this car and the get rid of it I think it's kind of pointless. Rotaries take more miles than that to get really broken in good...

go for a long drive as soon as you get it.

You won't regret 'breaking it in'.

^ what he said.

It better to break it in because you will be having it for about an extra 4k after you do. You wouldn't want too many problems during that time.

Don't be surprised if January becomes February or March.

Lol. I buy a new watch every week. What should I do to keep from running down the batteries?
