Both cars weigh about the same but the RX-8 has 35 more HP so I would assume it would win.

Why are you comparing a FWD box to a sports car though?

I can tell that some of the veterans on this forum are getting pissed at the OP, but I am a potential owner and although the Rx8 has many great attributes, it would be annoying to get destroyed by some high school punk in a civic. I don't race on the roads, but there are times when I enjoy accelerating away from a light, so I understand what OP is saying.

You sort of contradicted yourself there bud.
If youre trying to find a car that can destroy anything in a straight line go get an SRT-4 or something of that nature.
If youre so worried about losing to teenage kids, thats simple, dont race.
Also, you would be surprised at the acceleration once you get into the higher RPMs. Drive one -MANUAL-, then come back.
or simply, save it for the track.
