8 years, 100,000 mi extended warranty.
Mazda is replacing my engine in my 2007, they keep trying to get me to purchase a Catalytic Converter even though nothing is wrong with mine. The guy mentioned it at least 5 times. I'm hopeing they dont (Suddenly come up) with alot of other things wrong that they want to charge me for.

Keep in mind it's just on the engine alone.
And your warranty coverage starts from the original date of purchase. So if your 8 was originally sold in 2007 for example, the bumper to bumper might just be expiring (3 years), and the 8yr 100,000 engine core might have 5 years left, not 4, etc...
The powertrain is the important one right now though, that is 5 years 60,000 miles, and is better than the engine core warranty until you hit that limit, then it goes away and just the engine is covered.

[quote=Drummerboy1975;3783950]My dealership has mine and i was just wondering where are these engines being built? They told us about a three to four week turn around due to these engines being hand built somewhere.
How long did it take for them to get your engine in??? The dealer told me it usually took 7 to 10 business days but it has been 11... I miss my 8

The engines are typically all build at the same re-man facility. A few times it has been reported that they had to get them straight from Japan instead, but it is rare.
What is probably occuring, actually, is dealerships have incentives from Mazda (well, all dealerships to their parent companies actually), for a certain level of work load / income each month. An engine replacement is a LARGE bill that the dealership gets to submit for reimbursement on, and if it looks like the dealership will make their mark in the current month, they often postpone the paperwork until it will fall on the next month to help boost that month, or if it comes in too close, suddenly drop it this month to make sure this month passes.
This has been confirmed from several different members, ones who were told honestly by the dealer, as well as members who used to, or still do, work for dealers.
This may be what is happening to you.
Of course, it could actually be a backlog of other work, trouble with parts, shipping, etc...

My mazda was stolen on oct 10 got it back chassis in great condition and all it need is 2 doors and two front fenders why would the insurance company put it total loss and up to today they are having me go under oath to repeat what happened that day. If anyone has been through this let me know why is it taking so long and can I keep my car after all of this is over

What are you actually asking?
dropped my car off at the dealership December 27th and just got it back like 3hours ago! It took forever but I am so glad to be united with my ride again!! I bought the car in april of 2009 with 40,000 miles on it and now with 53,000 miles and the new engine I know what my car should have felt like all along. Absolutly sublime........ I love the rotary even more now. Hopefully with premixing it never fails again.
Getting a new engine. For any of you who have gotten a remanufactured engine...do the remanufactured engines come with the fix for the white crud (condensation) on the dipstick? Not a big deal but just wondering.
No, the engine will be the same type that was originally in the car. If you ask the dealer to fix it they can but its not covered by warranty. It also doesnt affect the engine at all, it just makes it hard to read your dipstick.

so basically this means my 2007 rx8 grand touring with 14k miles on it i just bought used from a ford dealer will have this warranty with it still?
(its all stock no modifications that would have voided any type of warranty)

Some dealerships require that you have all service/ maintenance records (oil changes, etc), which you probably don't have. But some, you don't. Talk to your local Mazda dealership to see if they will honor the warranty
would you say once i have more of a record of oil changes etc that i make during my ownership this will be less of a worry for me since i will be establishing the proof of maintenance?
Keep your oil change records. The dealership told me that they don't have any maitenance record for my car so the warranty do not will cover me. I sent them copies of my oil changes for the last 2 years (I changed the oil every 3,000 miles) and they approved. Right now I'm waiting for the new engine.
Tip for those reading:
if you do your won oil changes, make sure you keep the receipts of the oil/ oil filter purchases. That will also help with your warranty claim. And keep record of your changes in your manual
(I didn't read the whole thread. So, if this is a re-post, it's a good one :P )

I had an 05 RX-8 GT and loved the car, got rid up of due to lease end, poor resale value, poor mileage, and worries about the rotary long term.
I am thinking of picking up another RX-8 The prices are low and the Mazda long warranty have me interested.
So it is 8 /100k from new, so nearly every 8 ever made would still be under warranty if under miles? If a car has had the engine replaced is the replacement covered for the balance of the 8 /100k term or is "that it" for the car? Are the replacement motors proving more reliable long term than the original ones or about the same? I think the first year (well, really 03 and 04 and they mad 04 ML cars for 2 years) had the most problems so I got an 05. If I get an 04 with some warranty left or a replaced engine is that going to be "As good" as getting another 05? I understand you might be asked about maintenance to get a warranty claim, but the warranty is in effect on the car so it should be (in the end) honored unless they have a valid claim of abuse on the owner's part .
There was originally base, sport, touring, gt model? Is there a reference / FAQ to remind me what came with what options? My GT had leather, HID, and moon roof. Touring had no moon roof and maybe no leather? Base had nothing? Sport had ABS and stability control?
Thanks
