Well it's an extension provided by Mazda North America. Do you know what division handles UK and how to get a hold of them?

you may want to contact them directly to see if they are providing some kind of extension for your region.

It would be helpful for someone to scan and post here that extension for the Series II's. The only official document I have seen here mentions the Series I.

I'm about to purchase one of these gas guzzling RX-8's before the EPA Outlaws them. 06 with 25K. Any issue with transferring the warranty that anyone has experienced?

Any Mazda warranty is on the car, not the owner.

PPF = Power Plant Frame
It is the bar that runs along the drive shaft. It connects the engine to the rear differential. It is adjustable and alignment is required to keep the geometry of the engine-transmission-drive shaft correct.

Not exactly adjustable. There is a locating bolt that must be put in first when you put the PPF back on. If you don't it will be out of alignment and cause the problems described. You can loosen it all up, tighten up the locating bolt first (it's the recessed one in the center in the back with the conical seat on the head). Then tighten up the rest and you should be good.

so this may be beating a dead horse, so my appologies guys.

theres a local RX8 for sale that has 92k miles but the motor was replaced at 65k miles by mazda. its unknown and not listed in the ad if the motor is fresh or what not.

but how does the 8/100K miles warranty apply to a replaced motor?
would the warranty go based on teh milage shown on the trip or would they warranty the new motor aswell entirely?

thanks guys. Again, sorry if this is beating a dead horse.

~87K - 6 YEARS - 9 MONTHS - NEW ENGINE

Hello Folks,

It's been a long time since posting last. Figured I would check-in with a post regarding my sub 3000 VIN 2004 RX-8.

It appears the engine finally gave out, resulting in a solid yellow CEL with flashing CEL's that would occasionally happen at startup or at WOT.

Took it into the dealer and they say low compression in both rotor housings (had a compression test done about 2 years ago that checked out OK). Anyway, they are saying new engine but covered via the extended drive train warranty given to early model rx-8's.

Still will cost some out of pocket, they say the oil metering valve/pump has to be replaced, that plus labor probably will set me back ~$1600.

I'll drop another update as things progress.

Talking Raditor cracked - New Engine

My radiator failed on freeway - one of the bakelite pieces got brittle with age - caused the engine to overheat and that toasted internal seal in last chamber allowing coolant to get into engine. Jeff Haas Mazda in Houston did a great job of working with Mazda to get the $4400 covered. Mazda shipping new engine and my out of pocket will be $150. Excellent service by Jeff Haas and Mazda! It shouldn't be a surprise that they stand behind their product and customers, but in the world today it always is.

Mine gave up the ghost on me 2 nights ago. The dealer is trying to give me hell about replacing it under warranty since they didn't do the maintenance on it. Nevermind the fact that it only has ~30k on it and all the maintenance from the previous owner was done at the dealer and I'm ASE master certified and I did it while I had it. Any suggestions?

I did the oil changes myself at work. I'm ASE certified and work in a garage. I'm having our salesman dig up my invoices from when they were done.

I hate that b.s. It is so hard for me to retain every little receipt. I pulled some of the old ones I did have and most of them the carbon paper has faded to where you can't read them anymore anyways.

Got car back this week, engine replaced per warranty, oil metering pump was leaking, install + labor for that set me back $1500.

Test drive revealed CEL's; pulling the code on that revealed faulty O2 sensor. Once that part comes in next week hopefully that will put the issue to bed. Looking forward to spirited driving this for another 6-7 years, still looks like new.
