Hi,

Does anyone know if this warranty extension relates to UK customers too? I've just a 2004 65000 miles RX8 and wondered if it would still be covered should something go horribly wrong...

Cheers

Be sure to keep records of your oil changes, better yet can you get them from the last owner?

it's funny how mazda never revealed the official part list for this warranty, it says but yet they look for any excuse to deny engine replacement to those RX8 owners

Rotary Engine Core

Rotary Housing and Internal Parts

Internal Seals and Gaskets

That's about it !!!

I noticed a nice difference in mine.

I now have an RX8 Body with 85,000 on it and an engine with about 12,000.

CHeck my earlier posts in this thread. I scanned the work orders into the thread.

To date... nearly $12k worth of warranty work done.

If an 8 dies and is just out of warranty or Mazda refuses to cover the rotary core for some BS reason, what is the cost for a new engine? I remember reading $6k somewhere. Is that for a new engine plus labor for installation, and new hoses, gaskets, etc.? What's the out of pocket cost for getting a good reman (to spec) installed including labor and needed parts?

Well, they can't legally void a warranty for using fully synthetic oil, at least in the older series, like my '04. On my model, the owner's manual mentions no warnings about using synthetic oil, and apparently the DVD mentions a recommendation against synthetic (recommendation, not an outright statement to not use syn).

As for diesel, I just looked at the pdf for Mobil1 Turbo Diesel full syn 0W-40. It states that it is "recommended for all types of modern vehicles". It meets or exceeds API CF, ACEA A3/B3 and A3/B4. The only warnings it includes is that it doesn't recommend it for 2-stroke or aviation engines. Any of the GA diesel oil users have more information?
