Maybe thats because this warranty is for the Engine Core and not the Transmision.

There's a 5yr/60k Power Train warranty that would have covered your transmission if anything was going to cover it. That would be Mazda's SSP 67. If it's an 04, there is a very good chance you are already out of that warranty period, I know I am.

Depends on what is causing the oil to leak.

i got a small oil leak around the pulley cant figure out where exactly its coming from. Wondering if i should take it to the dealer to get it checked out but im afraid they might charge me just to look at it and not do anything.

Clean the surrounding area off and then turn on the car and watch it to see if you can see where it is leaking from.

If you bring it to the dealer, there is a $99 or $199 diag fee unless they find the problem to be a warranty claim.

well... looking at your sig, if your 8's a 04 model, your basic warranty is already up.
do what jmc23200 and if you do see a leak, buy a new gasket and replace it. If you don't work on your car, pay someone to do it. It'll be most likely cheaper than taking it to a dealership.

The extended warrenty is 8 yrs or 100,000 miles. Just being an 04 doesnt eliminate him, unless he's got over 100K miles, he should be covered until 2012under the extended warrenty. Or 100,000 miles whichever comes first.

He said that the basic warranty is most likely no longer in effect (unless he paid to extend it). The 8/100K warranty is an extended very limited warranty - not the basic bumper to bumper warranty which would definitely have covered this. The 8/100 warranty only covers engine internals to rotors and housings. From his description, it is a front main seal that is leaking, and my guess is that it would not be covered, but I can't say that for sure. If the leak is from between the rotor housings then it should be covered. However, only Mazda can say exactly what kind of leak will be covered and what won't. If it is a front main seal, then any mechanic can do it and probably for a lot less than Mazda. Best of luck OP.

Not sure for the '09, but I just read through a couple of threads on this for the earlier models and there's a lot of contention about whether holding the button to get the lines is disabling the stability control (as in, a 2 part system between the DSC and SC), or whether the button when merely pressed is disabling both, and holding the button is creating an error mode of some sort that is part of an internal diagnostic procedure for Mazda techs. There's lots of facts and speculation on both sides of the argument, but in the end there's no documentation from Mazda either way for 100% verification. The argument presides around the fact that the SC (if it's a 2 part system) only gets disabled at speed, that is above a certain speed like 30 mph, which is why you may be able to do crazy donuts and kick out the backend all over the place when pulling out in 1st gear (trust me, you can), but at speed some contend that you can see the difference. I have no interest in cutting out everything for spirited street driving or HPDE, so I'll stick with the single press, but when I start autocross events, I'll probably press and hold just in case there's something to the myth of the 2-part DSC/SC system on the 8. I'm driving a manual '04.

MD Dealer in the Dark - supposedly

just informed my dealer of the 8 yr/100k warranty and they claimed not to know about it. I emailed them a copy of the corporate press release and they came around, reluctantly, it seemed, to accept it. this was in Silver Spring MD.

Not a myth. Read the manual.

Lots of people ahead of you have figured this out. Especially those that have dyno'd their cars. You have to hold it down to turn it off completely in order to dyno the car.

does anyone know if this covers a flooded engine? I am looking at this TSB

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...5-08-1883f.pdf

"Warranty term coverage is 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000 mile mileage limitation. Refer to WARRANTY INFORMATION for complete details."

it says this in the TSB, so im assuming this will cover it. it will help me save a lot of money, thanks

OK....Check this out.....i dont get on this site at all bc everytime i do i get pissed off bc i read all of the RX8's problems and it upsets me VERY MUCH. but i was on here a while back and someone posted the Original 8/100000 warrenty Document and i downloaded to my iPhone so if a dealer said there was no such thing i could shuve the iphone straight up his A** with the doc. so he would change my engine bc my 2005 RX8 Runs like POO. it has 65,000 miles on it oil changed every 3500 miles ive done all the right things and it should not be running like this. for example everytime i start the car in the morning it makes a very high pitch whinning noise for about 2 mins then goes away. i dont know what the hell that is and that was only the start of my problems. Now everytime i Brake my rear axel or brakes dont know which just everytime i brake something sounds like a ticking noise and i just got the brakes changed and rotors turned. but anyways if anyone still has that document can u please attach it so i can download it i would greatley apprechiate it ! but after all this i still love my RX8 ive had it since i was 15 im 18 now and would never want to get rid of it but its just unreliable and i dont know what else to do. im about to just steal my dads Dodge viper and tell him we made a trade but i like my 8 better

And OP.............the whine on start-up is just the air pump used to bring the cat up to temp quicker for emissions. It's not an issue, so don't worry about it.

Some dealers don't know about the Rotary Core Warranty because there are very few RX8's on the road(compared to most other cars). Some dealers just play stupid.

Theres a TSB for a Ticking noise while turning. Don't know if it could be that.

Since there are no valid "chips" that work with the rx8 then the answer would be yes. Have the dealer show you this chip and take a photo and post it here. If the last owner installed one of those Ebay scam "chips" you might have some recourse against him or the dealer you purchased the car from.

Or you could just remove the .50 cent chip and make it stock again. It's not like they do anything anyway.
