I didnt mean to put you down. I don't even know the correct step by step answer. I have an idea from reading this forum but not 100%. Since I didnt know the answer, I tried to direct you back to the people whom installed your new engine.

Think of it this way. Let's say you didnt ask the people who installed the engine and came on this forum and asked and then listened to someone who gave you advice. (like myself who isnt 100% sure) It may be completely bad advice and you hurt your engine. You then go back to the people who installed it, and tell them you followed the directions off a forum on the internet, and broke my car. You think they're going to cover their work now?

In your situation, I would go back and ask them, (AND) the people on the forum, and then compare the two. That way if something goes bad, you can go back to them and say, Listen you told me to break it in this way, I did it, and its wrecked, fix it.

Yes that's why forums exist and you can find a TON of help on this forum, but dont let everyone think for you. Again I appalagize for upsetting you. Never meant to come off that way. Also Not a stupid question.

OK, so can we all at least agree that the 8yr/100000 warranty applies to the '09 models too?

It seems some people are not clear on this...

Sorry been a while since car has been done and I haven't posted my dealer sheets.

Girlfriend in Sentra was struck by a dumbass redneck driving a Suburban that ran a red light and creamed her at 40mph! Thank God she is ok, but been busy dealing with insurance companies and crap.

Here is my dealer invoice for my engine swap.

Hope it helps anyone who is having difficulty. Remember that my car is lightly modded with Agency Power Cat back (did not install cat delete pipe that came with it) and Simota/Umnitza CF intake.

Dealer had no issues performing this warranty claim for me. I have also attached for those of you that might want to print the info out.

Rick,

I posted this in my last thread and answered your PM. Hope this helps.

I purchased my 2004 AT used in Oct '06 (72k miles). I soon began to experience all the classic sick rotary engine symptoms - rough idle, frequent stalling, etc. It finally gave up the ghost last September (86k miles).

At the time of the failure, it was out of factory warranty. Needless to say, I had to eat all of the repair costs to install a reman.

After the new extended 8/100,000 warranty came out this year, I attempted to recover these costs. My request was denied by Mazda because of a mod that had been done to the air intake (Umnitza carbon fiber box).

We all know that this mod was in no way related to the cause of the failure (this was per their very own service manager). The failure was caused by a poor engine design as evidenced by the thousands of replacements that necessitated the 8y/100k extended warranty.

I have since filed a lawsuit against Mazda over their failure to honor the warranty. If this does end up in court, I could really use some additional information from anyone who also had this particular mod yet received their reman engine without problem. How can Mazdz honor this warranty work in some cases yet deny it in others?

Please send me a PM or email me at pipelnr05@yahoo.com and share your experiences with me.

Thanks again and glad things worked out for those of you that didn't have to fight Mazda to do what thay know is right and proper.

Well they quoted me $600 for my clutch replacement since they had the motor out to save me labor but I declined it due to the cost. Mine has 66k on it and it is just starting to want to try and slip. They were right that it needs to be replaced. It will be stored this winter and get a new flywheel and clutch and pressure plate in the spring.

Just a few questions to anyone who has gone through this

I was just told today my car needs an engine and would be done next week. I took it in because it was slow to start (cranked but didn't turn over easy) and sometimes stuttered from take off. The first words out of the mouth of the service advisor was new engine. In all my years, I would have been looking at starter or electrical, he went straight to the engine. In any case, he can't really tell me why I need an engine, so I guess I won't complain, but I would like to know how to prevent it.

I bought the car in March with 31000 miles, it now has 37000. Does this new engine stay in the 100k warranty, or does it get a new warranty? What about the mass air flow sensor they put on first to see if that fixed the problem, do I still have to pay for that if it didnt' solve the problem?

Does the new engine get new plugs? I just got new plugs. Do I have to pay for those?

Is there something different about newer engines making them any better?

The only warranty on the car is this 100k engine extension, (all others ran out on time in August)

Just seeing if anyone has learned these questions.

Not sure how they handle the warranty, but my assumption is that the 100k should still apply. I would be surprised if they do a new 100k - probably a 63k for you since the car had 37k already? Maybe someone that has a new engine can answer this w/accuracy, as I can't.

Tell the service department you just got new plugs and let them know you will not be paying for more. I don't know if they would do new plugs anyway, but you can check with them to be sure.

No change to the engine. Mazda has made many changes over the last years in the ECU programming. The super condensed version: the oil injected into the engine has been increased in order to provide better lubrication in an attempt to solve the problem.

So I guess early in life, the car wasn't getting enough oil injected into the chamber, causing premature wear? I've used pre mix in RX-7's, I guess I'll call Mazda to ask about such now.

Not enough oil; not heavy enough oil; not redlined enough.

Mazda's position is and will remain "no pre-mix necessary." That doesn't stop many of us from using it anyway.

Same goes for the 5w-20 reccomendation in the manual - it's great for meeting the strict US emmissions standards, not so much for meeting the needs of the renensis. Here's a link to a thread that has lots of good info about oil weight - though you may find it to be so technical that it makes no sense like I did - lol. Even though I understood less than half of it, it made enough sense to get the point across and lead me to 10w-40.

Happy rotoring!

you can download it from the racingbeat website. It's an open document and applies to any RX8 04-08 regardless of owner etc.

Yup. I would treat this like your previous rotaries. Premix and higher weight oil. That's what I've done with my new motor.

And the warranty is not extended for the new motor 8yr/100K is the total warranty from day one. At least Mazda has extended it for us so if our motors go out again at 90K miles we'll be covered again.

I got a DVD in the mail with a warranty extension package from Mazda. I don't know if if is because I was one of the customers that has had major work on the car in under 65K miles. I have had the engine, trans, and clutch replaced in under 65Kmi. I believe I recieved the package in July, I plan on opening hte package to see if I can transfer this warranty.
