grrr.
In the first year, I commuted about 90miles per day, 90% highway. I put 32000 miles on the car and was at sea for about 5 months that year. I averaged about 20 mpg. The 2nd year, after I moved, I commuted about 30 miles per day 50% highway. I put 17000 miles on the car. I still commute this route, and average about 17 mpg. November began my 3rd year of ownership, and will be the longest I've kept the same car for quite some time. I still get the new car itch on occasion, but have no intention of acting on it anytime soon (particularly when Hymee's supercharger becomes available, *cough...hurry up ). There's just nothing in my price range that I'd particulary like to replace it with.

52K on 04 model purchased in August 03. No major issues; just the usual TSB list. ~20MPG.

I should add that this has been the most trouble free car that I have owned. Of course it could use more power, the cup holders in front suck, and the gas mileage could be better--but I wouldn't trade it for anything in my price range right now.

Thanks for posting! Looks like I'm gonna have to update the 1st post. I turned 75k last month. Will try to get to it, this weekend. Maybe also search for others. Btw, I just installed Richard Paul's Axial Flow Shifter tonite and it ROCKS!!

No mistake, it's correct with the exception that it is now 135,000 miles.

Just hit 50k and if you want to know what major and minor BS we had to have fixed under warrenty then just ask I'll let you know. But our MPG seams to be about the same. In fact we just had some work done at the dealer and out chevy aveo rental car sucked on MPG with the A/C on or off. So go RX-8! this car rocks and gets good gas for what it can do. Hell yes!

I'm getting close... 46,000 miles today.

She still feels like a new car. Just a shame about the few hood paint chips from rocks on the interstate.

Every once in a while I get paranoid from all the 'engine power loss' threads which end up leading to 'replaced my engine' threads - so I floor it and see if it still pushes me back in the seat. It always does, and I feel better afterwards
