Start it up and let it warm up. Check the coolant in the radiator. Watch for any kind of bubbling or foaming. That would indicate a bad engine. Housing seals gone.

If you want someone to look at it before you buy it I would suggest azrotaryrockets Glenn is a very experienced fellow with the RX7. If you want I can give you his number.Or call him for you.
Another person would be Rotaryman25 here on the forum. Pm him. He owns a couple of FB's. And is a Certified Mazda Mechanic.

Yeah of course, but none of them were as popular as the RX-7. The RX-7 was the first popular rotary.

They made changes to the seals around the time the RX7 first came out. The earlier engines were known for being oil burners (and that wasn't from the oil injection).

When I started out in the Rotary business the RX7 was not around. These were very popular. R100's,2,3,4,5's. And REPU's. And there was a lot of them.
I've owned 3 RX4's An RX5 (Cosmo) A Rotary Pickup, and 2 RX8's. I've never owned an RX7.
No wonder I'm not popular.

When I say popularity what I really mean is sales. I consider it the turning point for rotaries. It's because of how well that car did that we all have an RX-8 to talk about.

I've love to have gsl-se to rip around in. Just like I'd love to have a turbo II FC. Just not enough money and garage space for project cars!
