365 day Rx8 REW build.
LOL..easier than you think
I lost one this summer at the track...at 500+ it doesn't take much to break.
Good part...winter project is lightened rotors and balanced and clearances rotating assembly....and dry sump.
I'll stop spamming his thread now
....maybe it would be a good idea to do one of ny own

Just read through all 14 pages, very impressive build man. I've got a street ported REW sittting in my garage and a blown Renesis sitting in another garage, so guess what's happening next? LOL. Now, just have to decide whether to use the REW front cover, or the Renesis front cover (your input would be appreciated).
Anyways, looking forward to the next stage of your car's evolution.
ETA- Also, are you planning on water/meth injection?

Figure out what you are using for an ECU......then you can pick the front cover that will give you the trigger configuration that you want
You need the Renesis trigger wheel to run the dash and some other things...so figure on needing that in some form or another...and go from there
What front cover you use will also depend on how you are mounting the engine....you will need to make different oil pan modifictions if you use other than the REW cover on the REW

Thanks for the input, fellas. I'm planning on using the Haltech Platinum Sprint RE, which will work with either trigger wheel, but I'm not sure if I should hold out and get the higher resolution PS1000 unit instead (I'm thinking the latter would be overkill for my goals). I have both front covers at my disposal, so it's going to be a coin toss lol. Debating a few bits here and there. Also, ordered the RX8Performance REW mounting solution, so I'm guessing it'll mean running the REW pan, for obvious reasons.
BTW- I might have to pester a few of you guys with this swap periodically with questions, as I've never undertaken a project like this before, so please bear with me lol. Also, huge thanks for the info you've made public so far, helps alot.

^^^see post #353 above, if you plan to also incorporate the factory ECU for other functions then your choice is obvious. You will probably want to use the FFE hall sensor upgrade trigger sensor.

Nice.
Let me know how you like that thing and if it can take some power. If I blow up the stock RX-8 transmission too easily I need something to hold me over until I can get another engine built with an auto rear iron so I can switch to a T56 dog box.

Team - I already figured out that issue. I now have my factory fuel gauge working with my fuel cell and it is 100% accurate
Arca - So far the 5 speed is great! It feels so much better for the power I'm putting out. And as far as will it handle it? Well dyno is coming up so I will keep updates.

Yeah I can find one too but the issue is that there doesn't seem to be a solution for using a manual rear iron. All of the ones I've seen, you have to use an auto rear iron, auto starter, and an auto bellhousing that has been milled like 1/4", then the adapter plate, then the T56.

There are a few mods to the case near the starter..and the pilot bearing .........but thats about it

had to figure it out myself to setup a digital conversion in 1 Gallon increments for an AiM dash display and saw your question, glad you resolved it

Just curious what ohm number you used for a full tank? The service manual gave a pretty wide range.
