USED!!!

2005 RX-8 Grand Touring.
6 Speed
15k Miles

$24,998 tax, title tags included.

No trade in
$13,000 cash down
Financing $11,998 at 7%.

I know I'm paying more than I should but this car has exactly what I want. All the options I want, the exact color and interior. I didn't have to compromise anything with this car which is why I went for it, knowing I could get one cheaper...but it may not have been "the one" like this one was.

no! stupid MAC! Mazda American Credit! Everyone one earth were giving me in the high 6's, and these guys could only give it 10+%... I wanted the car badly/urgently and since there were no strings attached with the loan, I thought of working on that later... and thankfully, it worked out a lot better

Again, guys (donno how much of this will work actually):

with financing, there might be a loose end:

If you get a good rate at some bank/CU (like I did) with no difference for new/Use/refinance options, then you might be able to save a couple of hundred bucks on the MSRP...

Buy the car with MAC - which gives you $500 discount
One good thing about this loan is that you can pay it in full anytime without any penalties...
Then go to your low-interest loan lender...

That way: u get ($500 thru MAC) - (some interest loss for the number of days u have with them) = a few hundred bucks...

Sport '05 Nordic Green

Picked up mine yesterday. Details followed:

Final Price: $24,500 (out-the-door)
Model Year: 2005
Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: Sports Package (HID, Fog Lights, DSC), spare tire kit
Date of purchase (month/year): 06/06
Location (city/state): Wood Mazda, Santa Rosa, CA
Financed/Cash purchase: $6,000 down, $18,500 financed.
Interest rate (if relevant): 6.19%
New/Used: New
MSRP: $29,000+ (before Tax, Licence, etc.)

Dropped by the dealership 3 times. Knew the sort of price I wanted to pay from this site already ($7,000 - $ 8,000 off MSRP). Haggled the price down by complaining about MPG, and how the car wasn't as cheap or practical as a GTI MkV (another car I was considering). I was in no hurry to buy, and was thinking about waiting for Mazdaspeed3 as well. I guess, the dealer wanted my money sooner than September. Talked to the Sales Manager directly (a guy named Marshall); transaction was smooth and tension-free.

Hey all, I'm new to all this and looking to get an 05 Winning Blue RX-8. I've been searching for months and trying to bargain a good price, but the dealers in Illinois won't budge. There's a Winning Blue with the Grand Touring Package and Chrome Accents only, and I offered $25,000 OTD, but they won't budge. Am I low-balling it too much, or is $25,000 OTD reasonable for a GT with Accent package? Thanks everyone!

Sounds reasonable to me. I'd try some other dealerships...they should bite on that no questions asked. You might have to do some traveling though.

Heck, the INITIAL offer I got on my car was $25,700, and if i'd have been in the fighting mood, i prolly could have got it down to around 25K if I'd tried. I was already impressed with the remarkable drop. 05 manual, GT pkg, spoiler and 6 disc changer.

Keep at it, and show us the ride once you find her!

Wow, Stave was that your OTD price? (Including tax, title, license) That's a sweet deal. What area are you from?

Yeah, that definitely has me stumped then, because they were trying to pull the old "$25,400 plus tax, title, license because any less and we would be taking a loss...there are still a lot of people looking at this car, blah blah blah." I've tried a million places all around the Chicagoland area, and most are trying to charge anywhere from $25,500 to $26,300 + tax title license for just an 05 manual, GT pkg with Chrome Accents. Hopefully I'll find something for $25,000 even out the door because that's as much as my budget allows. I think I'm gonna play the waiting game a little bit to see if they call me back as well.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll definitely post pics up once I get the car!

If you'd really like the fully loaded package, it might be a lil tough to pull off for < 25K OTD. My price I mentioned didn't include anything else but the base price I paid. My OTD price WOULD HAVE actaully been about $27,800....BUT that didn't include the optional $2200 extended warraty (7 years total/100K miles) that I asked about and opted for.

Heck, at the same dealership right now, they have a black 05 that has everything mine does except 6 disc listed for $25,300 right now on the lawn. Has about 300 miles on it, so i'm sure you could jimmy that price down significantly! They had a blue for the same, but I haven't seen it lately...might have sold.

If you REALLY wanna get a steal, find one of those buyer's remorseful people that bought an 8 new and don't like it 1K miles later (I was almost one of those!!). Fully loaded, aside from nav, you should definetely be able to walk off with about 25K OTD.

Best of luck with yur search, and let me know if you have any other questions!

That's awesome man. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking I might be able to haggle them down to $25,000 plus tax, title, license. I think the only way I could get $25,000 OTD is on a Touring Package 05 manual with rear spoiler. You think I should jump on that one, or try and find a GT for $25,000 OTD?

It's all about yur likings bud. If you don't find all the GT package stuff super appealing, don't waste the money. You'll certainly have a much better chance at getting < 25K OTD with a touring/sports. To be honest, the ONLY real options I HAD to have was spoiler and sunroof, as tacky as that may sound. The rest just came with the car i found

When you buy from a private seller you don't have to pay taxes?

Just bought a new '05 Touring RX8. Paid 23,500 which was about $6.5-7.0 below MSRP. What a treat. And to think that some people pay this kind of money and get a boring sedan. Amazing.

lol...hardly. Worse yet, when you buy from a private seller, (depending on your financing source) chances are likely you'll have to pay taxes upfront in whole, as opposed to dealers whom will usually figure taxes into your financing (loan)

in california u will pay taxes if you buy from a private seller at the DMV and they base it on what you bought the car for and its lower than normal state taxes its actually a damn good deal
