Final Price: 21,925.47 (includes taxes, title, license fees, etc)
Model Year: 2005
Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: Rubber mats and cargo net
Date of purchase (month/year): 4-17-06
Location (city/state): DC area, VA
Financed/Cash purchase: Cash
Interest rate (if relevant):
New/Used: New

Helpful additional information- you get what you negotiate, I could have squeezed more if I would have been patient.

MSRP: 27,435
How you did it: called the dealer and negotiated over the phone, then negotiated more when I arrived at the dealer.
Comments: DC area paper had dealers advertising ridiculous pricing on 8's

Final Price: $26,500 OTD
Model Year: 2006 (Galaxy Gray)
Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: None
Date of purchase (month/year): 5-31-06
Location (city/state): Cerritos, CA
Financed/Cash purchase: Cash
Interest rate (if relevant):
New/Used: New

MSRP: $26,995

How you did it: Figured out which dealers had base velocity red or galaxy grays (surprisingly few in LA or Orange County), went to dealer, negotiated until they offered $26,700 OTD and left. They didn't even try to stop me. I went to another dealer and asked them to beat the price, but they said they couldn't go below $27,000. Called the first dealer back and said if they gave $26,500 we could get a deal done, they accepted.

Comments: I used fightingchance.com, but didn't utilize their fax attack method as I wanted to see what deals were out there for the very end of the month and so I was a bit lacking in the time necessary to use that tactic. LA area prices do seem higher than the rest of the country.

Final Price: $25,700
Model Year: 2005
Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: Grand Touring, Rear Spoiler, 6-disc changer
Date of purchase (month/year): 5/12/06
Location (city/state): Lima, OH
Financed/Cash purchase: Financed
Interest rate (if relevant): 5.5% (refinanced from 7.89%)
New/Used: Brand new - 9 miles

Helpful additional information- Got her on clearance makin way for other 06's and new 07s. I was impressed with the bottom line, to be quite honest...

MSRP: $32,500
How you did it: Didn't take much...saw what I liked, drove the Cobra to show I meant buisness, they dealt a bottom line of almost $7K less, and I decided it wasn't even worth the time to argue. Loved it!

Comments: Was a little surprised that it took so little to get so much dropped off. Some say I should be skeptical...I don't think too much of it!

local credit union called Northstar Federal Credit Union. At the dealer, I KNEW I'd be able to get a much lower rate, as even the dealership was blown away by my credit for only 24. Yea...apparently they weren't too serious though when they drew up a plan for 7.89%. If I were in my right mind, I would have walked out and went to my union at the time, but like any first-time new car buyer, I was too pumped to walk out with that new car since all the details were in order.

However, finding out you can refinance for almost 2.4%/$3K LESS I didn't think twice about the $300 filing/refinancing fee. Trust me, when I heard they could do 5.5%, I was ecstatic! Most dealers can't even do lower then 5.9% bottom line unless there is a specific incentive or rebate goin on.

My error cost me $300 in the end, but when all's said and done, it was still a smart move.

If you've got an insanely high rate, I really do suggest checkin out yur local credit unions. Many can offer unheard-of rates, even on refinancing!

Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: Sport Package, Cargo Net
Date of purchase (month/year): 3/12/06
Location (city/state): Cary, NC
Financed/Cash purchase: Financed
Interest rate (if relevant): 2.2% (USAA loves me)
New/Used: New

MSRP: $31,330

I work for Apple and thus had a discount coming in. I dealt with the internet manager, who was really laid back. My girlfriend had bought a 3 the week before from the same woman, and she let me use my discount for her car as well. So when she said there were two RX-8's on the lot, and they were the color I wanted, I asked what the lowest price she could give it to me for, and didn't argue. The only thing I wish I could have gotten was a sunroof.

How does a Sport package manage to sticker at $31.3K? My '05 GT w/spoiler MSRP'd at $32,040. Unless you're using Canadian $$ you should be below $29K.

One should never underestimate a 100% silk imported, $3000 cargo net.

Wow! You sure did capitalize on that one! Glad to hear that something on here made that drastic of a difference!

I must say that I'm most impressed that you didn't even have a filing fee for the refinanancing! That's awesome!

Happy for ya, bro!

Phantom,

Excellent price. $2000 under MSRP out the door. $4000 without tax! I only did $2K on an 06 so nice job. In terms of add ons, def do Rotary Accents (looks silly without them), forget strakes, and instead of appearance package do Mazdaspeed Nose and side skirts.

Did you get navi too for that price? I assume not. Also, what was ur finance rate?

Well for the mazdaspeed its a lot more money and I can't just put it on myself. As for the navigation I thought if I really need it I can get an aftermarket one for a lot less than $2000, that is insane for a map. Strakes is a maybe, we will see. Financing, I just got it to receive the 500$ rebate from the factory. $7000 was the minimum I had to finance and I have to hold it for one month, pay 60$ and then pay it off. So I guess I got a discount of $440 off of the car.

On a side note...Is anyone out there selling an IPOD connection for this RX8? It plugs right into the Sirius satellite radio jack in the back of the stock Deck.

http://www.staticusers.net/rx-8/RX-8...n-iceLink.html

Anyone have one of these for sale?

Phantom,

I've got a Shinka with an appearance package that looks great but in hindsight if I could of gotten it without the $1300 appearance package and applied that cash straight to a body kit it would have been great! Just trying to save you some $$!!

Good luck either way. Sorry if I was so direct in my suggestions but I've been here a while and these seem to be some of the better options for the ride based on tons of research.

Best of luck

Oh no you weren't being direct. I was just saying why I would do it this way. I don't know how to install the mazdaspeed kit...is it a direct bolt on? The problem I am having between the two kits is that it will be EXPENSIVE to install the MS kit while I can do the factory one. Im always open to suggesstions if you have anymore, but we can discuss that on a different forum.

ANY OTHER PRICES OUT THERE???
