What the hell? (shipping woes)
So, I bought an '05 leftover from Autobarn in Evanston. The deal went thru' about a month ago (got a good price, very happy so far). Not surprisingly, MAC sent the first payment billing real pronto!
BUT.... I still don't have the car yet!
It was due to be shipped last week (i.e. Apr 11th-13th). I was out of town the week before, so called them Monday and they didn't have a shipper lined up. Finally on Wednesday they lined me up with Mcnutt auto shippers.
Mcnutt spun me a line about not being able to get it dispatched before the end of the week, due to drivers taking off for the Easter weekend (I like the way everyone just adopts a frickin' religious holiday because it suits them). Anyway, I've been calling every day since last week and getting the same old BS line about "we're working on it; we dont' have a carrier for it yet". etc. WTF !!!???
Now they're telling em no guarantee of even getting it before THIS weekend! So, what do I do? I can't wait any longer for this car, and clearly I can't give the shipper and/or dealer any more verbal **** about it, for fear of any reprisals they might choose to take out on the car (let's not go there!). This is just really pissing me off right now, and I need some advice on whether to can the shipping deal and just fly there and pick it up.
Does anyone know of any reputable shipping companies that can at least guarantee a time frame?

E-Bay Motors shows adds for Dependable Auto Shippers (or a carrier with a similar name). Most of the dealer listings link into that. I looked into using them, but ended up buying a car within driving distance.
I'd say if you have the time - get your shipping fee refunded and fly out to get it. The drive home will be a good bonding experience with your new ride.

I agree with Cool Blue...hop on a plane (check Hotwire and Orbitz), and get your car in a few days. You'll still save over having it shipped, even with the astronomical prices at the pump (over $3 a gallon here in Chi-town).
