It was also 8131 RPM and I came off throttle - still had room to climb so to speak. 3rd gear coming tonight, if I can get my car put back together somewhat. I have the interior gutted at the moment.

It's a toss up between sound proofing it, or welding in a half cage

Because there's nowhere to safely install just a harness bar?

Nothing to attach it to. You need a roll bar that has rear support legs and a roof hoops anyways to make it safe.

Last thing you want is a harness and no rollover roof protection.

ehh i dont know about that. the rx8 is great in a rollover, so what's the worry. why not build a bar in the back seat area that allows a harness but doesn't restrict so much area inside the cabin?

A harness doesn't allow you to shrink down in your seat at all...

So that inch of headroom you have above your helmet ( if you are lucky) is all you get before your neck becomes a doorstop to the roof

do the seats extend above the helmet though and does that help at all?

And what's Kev mean by a half cage??

Head is above the seats...

I assume he means a roll bar like I have in mine....though it basically removes the rear seat

I guess for me....I'm not willing to drive like I do any more without a Hans device....and I need a roll bar to do that....so for me it was a no-brainer.

I don't need a rear seat...hell I don't really need a passenger seat..none of my family want to ride in the car anymore anyway

Gave Kevin a ride at the Ridge...not sure if he wants to drive with me anymore either

After the laps at Ridge with Dan in his race car, I immediately started my planning for a HANS, Seats, and Roll Protection.

No side rails extending past the drivers seat. Basically just the rear portion of a full cage only. I don't want to climb over a rail to get into the seat.

^ oh that makes a lot of sense. how many contact points would that be? and how would you all roll protection? hoops over the seats?

Measure how many feet you have on yours for me, or take a guess
