^ Thanks for posting everything, it's been fun reading

And I wish you luck with your new engine! Did you buy it used or get it through Mazda?

Welcome. Used from a wrecking yard with 40k on the clock. I forgot. Mazda and me are done. I'll be taking pictures of my old engine disassemble.

Well it's running. I need to add more oil. I'm cleaning the garage up than going for a drive around the block, see how the transmission feels. Than I need a place I can get the plastic pop screws in the fender. Mazda bends you over prison status and doesn't even kiss your neck.

should have borrowed a few from the wreck

They aren't too bad if you buy them in bags of 10

Didnt get a chance to pull anything from the wrecked car. Pretty much backed the truck to the gate and a fork lift dropped the motor/trans in the back and I drove away.

I pulled some from other places and did one every other hole to tie me over as I do a shake down drive. Ill go pick some up after work tomorrow.

So how difficult was it? Not to bad. I enjoy this kind of stuff so it was fun for me to just take my time and see how everything works. If I have to do this again, it will go a lot faster. "IF" I do have to do this again, I will be removing my A/C compressor thats for sure. What belt do you use if you delete your A/C Dan?

If you remove the air pump does the stock ECM throw codes and the car runs like ****? Ill take a stab you'll need a accessport to disable all those codes. This is something else I would like to remove just to make the engine bay much cleaner.

OMP delete with what Mike has, battery to the trunk and a CAI are next on my list. Maybe one of those turbochargers will go on too But at that rate ill never touch my FD, but now im a typical FD owner. It just sits and never moves...

Cant delete the OMP...Sohn adapter...sure

I have some experience doing some of you bucket list...buy me a beer when I come down and I will save you some time I even have a couple of things you can have that may help. Even have a used/new Cobb if you are looking.

Don't need a belt ..the A/C is the only thing on that belt. You can take the pulley off too

The Plastic Pop Screws are also used by BMW. I would try Wesco auto paints. there is a store on north Aurora about 220th I think.

when my air pump went out it threw a code because the ecu monitors if the motor is running when it turns it on.

Hey Brad, now that you have an engine and trans, you'll be able to join me out at the track

Also when I first met you I innocently and ignorantly asked you what the difference in helmets was when I paid 100 for mine and you told me what you paid for your Arai. Well I am looking into getting a hans device and I will be getting a better helmet. I think I'd rather entrust my head to a better helmet than the cheapo I have now. I've been watching a lot of track wreck videos on youtube lately.

Speedware Motorsports in Redmond is doing a closeout on their Arai helmets if you want one for a bargain.

Ill go check Lowells today and see what I can find. If no dice ill check Westco. No dice again! Ill bend over to the stealership

I drove around a lot. Checking oil and coolant make sure there wasnt any leaks between stops (shake down around neighborhood, dinner, gas, best buy). 3rd gear 3-4k rpm there is a slight surge than 5k on up nothing. Could a lighter flywheel be an issue?

Threw a flashing to solid CEL on the freeway in traffic doing 25-30mph. I don't have a Cobb so I have to wait home to use the code scanner. I think I read some place misfire will cause flashing. I have new Oem coils, plugs and wires. Still pulls strong like it did last night. Maybe my cat is over heating. It did take 6 months of misfiring while my motor dwindled away to die. Should just put a midpipe on the car, than my blitz exhaust.

I got a misfire within a week of changing my plugs, coils, and wires earlier this summer (happened on my third lap of the day at the track, I thought my day might have been over, but I kept going ). It hasn't happened since. If it happens a few more times it might be cause for concern, but I think it should be ok as long as it doesn't keep happening. Any differeing opinions?

Either going to knock the stuffing out of my cat after work or get my hands on a mid pipe.

How do you test for a clogged cat? And I know this might seem dumb, but what clogs it?

why no premix? without a tune to increase oiling you're putting the new motor at risk. and i don't know why but i found less misfires after premixing... it doesn't cost that much.

i'd check soon as they're a bargain (like $300) for SA2005 which is good for a few more years.

and with the misfires, i'd just reseat the wires and make sure all your connections are good with no arcs and you'd be fine to keep going.
