Problem was one bolt wouldn't fully come out cause it would hit the ac line.

Motor is out, tranny separated, all accessories swapped off old block. New block has a centerforce clutch and act flywheel already installed. Angela and myself are cleaning my harness of gunk to go on new block as well as everything else. Her nice fingernail polish gone away from brake clean :p

I want to have everything cleaned and bolted up to the used block by tonight. Maybe mate trans and engine together.

Tomorrow I need to run to auto parts store so I can buy a plug wire kit and make my own. I have new plugs. Than clean what crap super clean didn't get in the engine bay. Than ready to reverse process.

Taking me lot longer than I liked but doing things super slow and inspecting so much so I understand how things work and why. Also there was a good time I did measurements to see how well a Buick v6 will fit let's just say things look good.

Break over my slave driver mistress is cracking the whip on me.

Updates;

Ended the night with all my cars parts bolted to the 'new' long block. Transmission is mounted to the engine. I need to screw a filter (only didnt cause my hands were so dirty I didnt want to dip my finger into fresh oil to lube the o ring). Install new plugs and make plug wires. Fill motor with new oil and transmission with gear lube.

Again this is taking like way to long to do this swap but taking my time and learning how mazda engineered some things.

Angela was cranking the flywheel over and said the rotors spinning sounded like a shell at the sea. Sounded so relaxing, sea waves and a breeze. Only interupted by a seagull "kittee-wa-aaake, kitte-wa-aaake"!!!

PS. Dan, wtf is that big O Ring that I magically found laying on top of my harness when I pulled the intake...im totally confused where it came from...

Is it orange? If so it probably goes between the apv plastic intake runner and the main plastic intake.

It's either the o-ring from the oil filler cap...or something from the wreckers that was stuck on the engine

Engine and transmission are finally in. Driveshaft and exhaust bolted up. Just making me a sandwich than hook up the airbox, air pump and whatever other connectors I missed.

I can't start it tonight due to one of those lil wire clips for oil lines decided to walk away. I was really careful putting EVERYTHING in plastic sandwich bags. So hopefully I can get one Mazda or safety wire it. Maybe someone has another solution?

I have a bunch...but won't help you a lot from here I feel for you with the damn A/C pump..it does get in the way

Solved that problem...I deleted it

You wouldn't want to do a ghetto fix for that...if it pops out you are in a heap of hot water ( or oil )

I think problem is my middle name. Lots of little issues and head scratching. At least next time I won't be in the position I'm in. Becoming an expert.

Lots of swearing, taking apart what I just fastened and yelling some more. Haha.

Think the stealership will have those clips dan?

They should have them...I think they are supposed to be replaced when they open the joints up...can't see it taking more than a day to get them even if they have to order them in

So how the night pretty much ended. I finished everything up than after looking over everything there was a missing vacuum line. Scratching my head, reading the diagram on the hood, looking for any extra lines I found one. Had to pop the intake back off and connect it where the vacuum lines for the oil is on each of the housings (think thats a good enough description). Those who know, know what im talking about lol. Its right above the 2 red injectors.

I lost that damn clip so I said "F, this. Im going to clean, I mean push everything a side and close up and head to bed. Take tomorrow off to finish".

I watched a movie and figure id upload some of the pictures. I need to get my *** back to the gym. Double chin alert. So here we go.

My trusty sidekick in my epic adventure.

Me, yeah just yeah...

Angela taking the air pump off

I decided that it wouldnt be a motor swap without doing some fab work with whats laying around the garage.

I dont think we're arent in Kansas anymore...maybe Angie should have let me barrow some of her pink 6 inch heels here........

Sometimes a bolt doesnt want to come off. This case the stupid square nut in the subframe decided to snap off. Bad machine tack welds.

Im taking a nap here.

Hmm, why hello there.

Nom nom NOMS! I think I ate them all....

Tinfoil to make sure any gear lube goes into the catch can when the driveshaft comes out.

I need 14mm STAT!

Needed some heat to the 4 transmission bolts.

Day 1 complete. Engine mounts were the last thing to be taken off and it was ready to be picked.

Angie checking out the old/dead engine. No pictures of the motor actually coming out. We were fighting it out.

Beer break

Doing a little port inspection.

Angela happy as a clam! She's like way into this

Swapping over all my old parts to the 'new' used engine.

We have everything bolted up minus transmission. Removed the clutch to inspect how/if it was dead. Looked pretty new still. Used some sand paper on the fly wheel and cleaned it up.

All ready to go!

Theres no progress pictures of the motor going in and all the pain I had all day. I was going about this all solo. Mind was more focused on getting the engine in than taking pictures. So heres the motor in and after I delt with the mystery no vacuum line.

Queue music from Zelda when you get a piece of the Triforce! Found it when I was down jacking the car to push it in for the night. I looked randomly on the ground and was like, "Oh hey, there it is!".

As we sit.

Yep.

It sounds silly but you turn the key to the on position. Then you tap the brake pedal really fast until the oil or gas gauge sweeps

Just fill it with coolant...and leave the cap off and keep adding as it goes down.

I would disconnect the ESS sensor ( at the pulley) and crank if for a while to get oil pressure...then plug it in and it should start fairly quickly if everything is golden

Houston we have ignition. Ugh Houston we have problem...oil pouring out drivers front corner...whole bag of absorbent thrown on the floor. I'm pretty sure that clip for the oil line I didn't exactly secure correctly, DOH!

Good news it fired up and held 2k rpm till I heard it's throat slit and gurgling.

Problems is my middle name

Atleast I drained that cooler of any used oil lol.
